The Emory Eagles Volleyball team took down the No.4 Ranked East Texas Baptist Tigers in four sets on Friday night of the East West Classic hosted at Emory University.
The Eagles are coming off a 3-0 weekend where they defeated Pfeiffer, Saint Mary's and Huntingdon.Â
East Texas Baptist took set one 25-17, with a .270 hitting percentage and 14 kills in the set. The Eagles bounced back to take set two 25-22. The hard-fought second set brought out 13 kills, three service aces and two blocks to even up the match.
In set three, the Eagles pulled away a bit winning the set 25-17 and hit .368 compared to ETBU's .083. Emory also notched 18 kills and a service ace to send things to a clinching final set.
In the fourth set, the Eagles pulled everything together to win the final set 25-23, racking up 13 kills, 2 blocks and a service ace.
UAA Athlete of the Week,
Ella Moore led the way with 14 kills, two assists and three service aces.
Gabija Staniskis totaled 13 kills and 2.5 blocks.
Jillian Massenat recorded a service ace and 25 digs.
Norah McNichols added in 29 assists and seven digs, and
Elle McBride contributed seven kills.
The Eagles will take on No. 8 Colby College at 3:00PM tomorrow.
