Softball Falls to #7 WashU on Senior Day

The Emory University softball team played their final regular season game at Cooper Field this afternoon, falling to #7 WashU in a 6-0 shutout as the Bears secured the 2026 UAA Championship title.

Prior to the game, the Eagles honored their four seniors: Ashley Chu, Isabel Cohen, Mackenzie Duford and Ella Hoyle. The class of 2026 has collected 100 wins for the program, going 25-11 this season and leading Emory to their fifth-ever Super Regionals appearance during the 2025 season.

The scoring began early for the Bears as a two-run homer from Sydney Schneider gave WashU the 2-0 edge in the top of the first.

Emory tried to deliver a response in the home half of the first as Chu stole second after leading off the frame with a single to put herself in scoring position, but the senior would come up empty handed as she was left stranded.

WashU tacked on a trio of runs in the top of the second as they got started with a sac fly to make it 3-0. Their fourth run came in the form of a fielding error before an RBI single gave the Bears the 5-0 lead going into three and a half scoreless innings.

In the top of the sixth, WashU collected its final run as Julia Sullo raced home on a throwing error following a deep double to left center.

Despite getting the lead runner aboard in five of seven frames, the Eagles struggled to come back from the early deficit as the Bears won their second consecutive UAA Championship.

Junior Lexi Bach delivered out of the pen for the Eagles, throwing three scoreless innings before WashU's final run in the sixth. The third year went for five innings, recording one run on four hits and dishing out a season-high six strikeouts from the circle.

The team will be tuned into the NCAA softball selection show on Monday, May 11 as they find out their postseason fate. The selection show will be streamed at 11:00 a.m. ET on NCAA.com.
