John Sjoberg to Oversee Emory Men’s & Women’s Golf Programs in Newly Formed Director of Golf Position

Emory University has announced that John Sjoberg, who has been at the helm of the men's golf program since 2012, will move into the newly formed Director of Golf position where he will oversee both of Emory's men's and women's golf programs, effective immediately, following the departure of Coach Liz Fernandes.

Under the restructuring of the golf programs, Sjoberg will serve as Head Coach for both teams with Samantha Gardella remaining on staff in her current position as women's assistant coach. Sarah Butler will also remain on staff as Associate Head Coach.

Sjoberg, who is in his 15th season as head coach, has steered the men's golf program to 10 University Athletic Association championships during his tenure as well as 12 appearances at the NCAA Championships including back-to-back third place national finishes – marking the highest finishes in school history.

Sjoberg will lead both teams at the upcoming NCAA Championships with the men's nationals taking place May 12-15 in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida and the women's championships occurring May 19-22 in Palm Desert, California.
