The Emory University baseball team dropped its third game of the weekend to the UChicago Maroons Saturday afternoon as UC won game three of the series by a count of 10-7 at J. Kyle Anderson Field.
The Eagles held a 4-1 advantage midway through the third inning with junior Jonathan Lang and freshman Ryan Roggin both picking up RBI base hits in the third frame.
However a pair of home runs by the Maroons including a two-run shot from Nathan Bae brought UC back into the fold, tying the score at 4-4 in the fifth.
Junior Zach Hanson put Emory back into the lead with his run-scoring single in the sixth but three runs came around to score for the home team in the sixth and seventh to give Chicago an 8-5 lead at the end of seven.
The Eagles made it a one-run game again in the eighth as senior Nick Sullo came home to score on a throwing error by the pitcher and freshman Connor Tam added a sac fly. The Maroons though would put the finishes touches on the win in the bottom of the eighth as doubles from Bae and Max Wiesner contributed to the 10-7 final margin.
Emory will look to avoid the sweep in Sunday's series finale that is scheduled to start at 11:00 AM ET.
