The #1 ranked Emory women's golf team concluded day two of the Jekyll Island Collegiate Saturday afternoon, combining for a team total 601(+25) to tie for third with UAA foe #3 NYU.
Fellow UAA program #2 Carnegie Mellon sits in second with a 600 (+24) total while Amherst sits at the top of the leaderboard with 599 (+23) to wrap up the second day of competition.
Xinyi Zheng remains at the top of the leaderboard after round two, with the freshman shooting a 76 (+4) on the day to maintain her lead. After a fantastic round on day one, Zheng struggled on the front nine with five bogeys, two birdies and a double bogey to start the round, but found her rhythm on the back nine as she made par on eight of nine holes with a birdie on 18 to close out the round.
Sophomore
Zimo Li is up one spot on the leaderboard from day one, tying for fifth place with a 73 (+1) for round two. She started strong with back-to-back birdies on the first two holes as she recorded a third birdie, two bogeys and a double bogey on the round to improve one shot from her opening round score.
Carys Code also found a spot in the top 25 with her 79 (+7) in the second round. The junior recorded two birdies, three double bogeys and four bogeys on the round to finish in 25
th.
Two shots behind Code is classmate
Esther Jung, who shot a 78 (+6) on the day to match her opening round score. The third year put up four bogeys, three birdies and two double bogeys in the second round to land in 33
rd place.
Finishing off day two for the Eagles is
Jida Chiravachredej who sits in 47
th place with an 80 on day two. She had a rough front nine with two bogeys, double bogeys and birdies respectively, but found her rhythm with only three bogeys on the back nine.
The Eagles will compete in the final round of the Jekyll Island Invitational tomorrow afternoon.
