The Emory women's golf team had a strong finish to the Savannah Invitational, tying with UAA foe WashU in second place with a team score of 588 (+4).
It was a UAA takeover in the top three as Carnegie Mellon won the event, shooting a 560 (-24) as a team. The Tartans' B team also took fourth with a 596 (+12).
Freshman
Xinyi Zheng was the top Eagle, coming in seventh place with a 143 (-3) across both rounds. She had a nearly identical second round, maintaining her day one consistency as she shot three birdies and two bogeys in the final round.
Two shots behind Zheng was sophomore
Zimo Li who came in tenth after shooting a 145 (-1) at the end of round two. The second year made par on 12 holes while shooting four bogeys and two birdies on the day.
Following her on the leaderboard was junior
Carys Code, who shot a 147 (+1) total for the tournament. Carys started on a rough note with a double bogey on the first hole, but she ended up recording three bogeys and a birdie over the rest of the round to land in 14
th place.
Up next was newcomer
Jida Chiravachredej who competed as an independent, placing 36
th with a 152 (+6) on the tournament. She improved by four shots from day one, making par on every hole apart from a pair of birdies and a birdie on 18.
One shot behind Chiravachredej was sophomore
Covi Yan as she came in 40
th place with her 153 (+7) score on the tournament. She had a one shot difference from her round one score, putting up six bogeys and two birdies on the day.
Rounding things out for the Eagles was freshman
Derica Chiu, who found herself in 72
nd place with a 161 (+15) at the end of the Savannah Invitational. She shot nine bogeys, three birdies and a double bogey on the round.
The Eagles will be back on the course next weekend as they head to the Jekyll Island Collegiate from March 20-22.
