Emory Athletics Weekly Preview: 2/9 - 2/15

Swimming and Diving:
Emory's swimming and diving teams are headed to Chicago for the UAA Championships this week. The meet will take place over four days and will conclude on Saturday, February 14. The Eagles will look to continue their long-standing reign over the conference as the teams vie for their 27th consecutive UAA championships.

The Eagles are coming off their last dual meet of the season against the University of Georgia, where the Bulldogs upended the Eagles 191-112 on the men's side and took the women's competition 190-106. Emory also recorded 31 NCAA B Cut times on the day.

The men's team saw two wins on the day as senior Henri Bonnault took the 100m Breaststroke with a time of 54.28 and freshman Carson Kalish won the 200 IM with his 1:48.83 time. On the women's side, Allison Greeneway earned the team's top finish with her second-place performance in the 200 IM.

Coverage: Men's Tennis:
Emory's #6 ranked men's tennis team will host Tennessee Wesleyan on Monday and Georgia Gwinnett College on Tuesday for a scrimmage at home this week.

The team began their spring season with a bang as they took down Young Harris 6-1 in their first match back on the court. Doubles competition by the pairings of Ruilin Feng/Matthew Johnstone and Dean Kamenev/Ajay Kartik as they delivered a pair of 7-6 wins and Feng/Johnstone won their tiebreaker. In singles, Feng and Daniel Kim swept their opponents, with Feng going 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 1 position and Kim earning a 6-1, 6-2 decision against the Mountain Lions.

Emory baseball will kick off their season this week with two home matches against Huntingdon and Berry, following that with a quick road trip to take on Berry on their home turf.
The Eagles are coming off a successful 2025 season as they made the postseason for the first time since 2017, marking the 15th postseason appearance in program history. Emory also had their 13th consecutive winning season under first-year head coach Bobby Perez.

Standout infielder Aidan Conley will suit up for his third season in the blue and gold after being named to the D3baseball.com Preseason All-America First Team. The junior is coming off an impressive 2025 season, earning ABCA All-America, All-Region, and All-UAA honors after leading the team in batting average (.383), runs (53), hits (67), triples (4), home runs (8), total bases (113) and slugging percentage (.646). Fellow infielder and senior Zach Wasserlauf is back for the Eagles this season as well following a 30 RBI season where he put up six multi-RBI performances on the year. On the mound, star pitcher Josh Zuckerman will also suit up for his final season at Emory after leading the Eagles to five wins as the No. 1 starter, striking out a team-best 68 batters over 66 innings.

Track and Field:
Emory's track and field team is back on the road this week as they head to Danville, KY for the Centre College Invitational.

The Eagles are coming off a dominant day at the UAB Invite as the Eagles picked up 32 top-15 finishes in a crowded field of Division I and II teams. The team earned two wins on the day in the distance events as junior Payton Fleming ran her PR in her first-place 800m win and senior John Urciuoli secured first place and his PR in the 3000m. The meet also saw Ryan McGonigle earn the program record in the 600m, earning second place with a time of 1:19.11. In the field events, the Eagles found success in women's and men's pole vault as Erin Makhanian took second place and Steven Ditelberg took third.

Men's Basketball:
Emory's #7 ranked men's basketball team is back at home this week to wrap up a four-game homestand as they take on RV Brandeis and #25 NYU.

The Eagles are coming off a whirlwind weekend as they took down UAA rival WashU 81-72 and #1 UChicago 97-94 in two overtime thrillers after taking losses to them on the road just one week earlier.
In the WashU matchup, senior Ben Pearce and junior Ethan Fauss led the squad with 16 points apiece. Pearce also put up nine assists as he continues to lead Division III in assists, and Fauss recorded his sixth double-double of the year with 10 rebounds on the night along with putting up a career-high six blocks.

Against UChicago, senior Jair Knight put on a show as he delivered a career-high 36-point performance against the Maroons and secured the win in overtime as he intercepted the Maroons final long pass. Pearce also had a monster performance as he put up 24 points and nine assists against the #1 team in the nation.

Women's Basketball:
Emory's #23 ranked women's basketball team will be back at the WPEC this weekend for the second half of a four-game homestand as they face UAA adversaries Brandeis and #1 NYU.

The Eagles are coming off a split weekend at home as they dropped their Friday night match against #15 WashU but bounced back to defeat #17 UChicago 61-52 after losing to the Maroons a week prior on the road.

Against WashU, the Eagles saw a pair of 13-point performances from the freshmen duo of Tatum Olson and Mia Strazza. Junior Alexandra Loucopoulos also found herself in double digits as she put up 12 points against the Bears alongside her team-high eight rebounds.

In the win against UChicago, Olson had a 20-piece game as she also put up six rebounds on the night. Loucopoulos also delivered another double-digit performance with 13 points and senior Lily Kennedy led the defensive effort with her team-high nine rebounds.
