The Emory University men's soccer team ran its winning streak to three games Tuesday night as the Eagles routed visiting Piedmont University, 6-1, at the WoodPEC in Atlanta.
Emory was led by the dynamic performance from freshman Emre Evran, notching the team's second hat trick of the season to move to 8-1-2 while Piedmont drops to 3-8-1 following the loss.
After 35 minutes of scoreless soccer, the Eagles quickly established a 3-0 lead across the final 10 minutes of the first half.
Senior Nick Carrano registered the first goal of the night in the 36th minute on the double assist by Evran and graduate student Walker Stebbings. Just 32 seconds later, Stebbings found the back of the net for his first goal in an Emory uniform with Carrano and Maximo Cisneros picking up assists. Evran would tack on the final goal of the opening half in the 45th minute when a miscue from the Piedmont keeper on a failed clear attempt redirected off Evran and across the goal line.
Evran continued the scoring binge in the 51st minute with his second goal of the evening on the feed from classmate Zachary Blacher. Nearly two and half minutes later, Blacher found the scoring column as he ripped a one-timer on a loose ball from 30 yards out.
The Eagles made it 6-0 in the 68th minute when Evran finished out his hat trick with a close range score following the stellar cross-field pass from Vincent Maraschiello.
Piedmont spoiled the combined clean sheet effort in the 75th minute as Daris Mustic recorded his 10th goal of the campaign.
The Eagles will be back home Saturday afternoon with UAA foe Brandeis University visiting Atlanta for a 11:00 AM kickoff.
