The Emory University volleyball team went 1-1 on Saturday facing the No. 6 ranked University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Titans and the Marian University Knights in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

The No. 5 ranked Eagles now hold a 5-1 record following the tournament in Wisconsin.

Game 1: UW-Oshkosh 3, Emory 1

The Eagles were able to jump to an early 5-2 lead in the first set on three kills and back-to-back service aces from junior Jillian Massenat, but the Titans were able to take advantage of attack errors from Emory's offense to tie the set at five apiece. The back and forth continued from both programs until Emory pulled away again with a 14-10 lead but UW-Oshkosh was able to fight back and tie the set again. With a 19-17 lead, the Titans went on a 6-0 run to clinch the first set, 25-17.

Emory was able to cut into Oshkosh's momentum in the start of the second set opening with a 7-4 lead with a series of attack errors from the Titans' offense. Oshkosh found their momentum later in the set moving to an 18-15 lead over the Eagles with a mix of kills and service aces. Emory later tied the set at 22 apiece but fell in the set 25-22 after three straight points for the Titans.

The beginning of set three was all Oshkosh with the host taking a 6-2 lead early on. The Eagles continued to chip away at the Titans' lead before pulling away with an 18-14 lead thanks to three straight attack errors from Oshkosh. The rest of the set was all Emory with five straight kills ending the set with a 25-17 Emory win.

After a back-and-forth start to the fourth set, the Titans went on a 7-0 run to hold a 12-4 lead over the Eagles. Emory kept going toe-to-toe with Oshkosh but the momentum of the Titans couldn't be stopped and the Eagles took their first loss of the season.

Game 2: Emory 3, Marian 0

Despite the loss in game one, the second match against Marian was all Emory. The Knights were able to keep up with the Eagles to start the set until Emory pulled away with a 9-5 lead on a kill from senior Eliane Silberman and two service aces from senior Kate LaRocco. Later in the set, Emory scored six straight points on attack errors from Marian and kills from teammates Leneia Niko and Kaya Monrose to take a 16-8 lead. The Eagles only allowed four more points in the set ending with a 9-4 run to take set one 25-12.

Later in the set, Marian took five straight points highlighted by three kills to take the lead back from Emory. The Knights continued to fight, despite the Eagles reclaiming the lead, and came within a one point deficit at 24-23. Senior Olivia Rabinowitz was able to add another kill to her stats this season and claim the 25th point for the Eagles heading into set three.

Emory opened strong with a 7-3 run in the third set with freshman Ella Moore making an appearance and getting a kill in the run. The Eagles were then able to take advantage of a string of errors from Marian's offense to hold a 14-7 advantage. A combination of kills and service aces from Emory moved the program to a 10-point, 22-12 lead and the Knights were unable to capitalize on momentum and fell in the third set, 25-13.

The Eagles will hit the road again next weekend to compete in the Mount Berry Tournament hosted by Berry. Emory will open with Texas Lutheran on Friday, September 12 at 4:30 PM before playing a doubleheader on Saturday.
