The Emory University volleyball program opened the weekend with another victory, this one coming against the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs 3-0 on Friday evening in Mount Berry, Georgia.

The No. 6 ranked Eagles improve to 6-1 on the season with the victory and saw two freshman help lead Emory to victory. Freshman
Skylar Giuliani totaled nine kills and three aces in the win while leading the team with four blocks. Additionally, classmate
Carolina Ufret finished second in the match with 14 assists.

Giuliani got things started early for the Eagles opening the match with her first kill of the day. The Bulldogs went point-for-point with Emory early on for a 6-6 tie to start the set. After the Eagles were able to pull away slightly thanks to kills from teammates
Kaya Monrose and
Gabija Staniskis, Emory posted eight straight points to take a 20-11 lead over Texas Lutheran. The Bulldogs continued to fight but the Eagles took their momentum to the end for a 25-16 win in the first set.

The Eagles opened strong in set two with a 4-1 run but Texas Lutheran continued fighting eventually coming within one point of Emory. The Eagles were able to pull away inch-by-inch taking their biggest lead of the set at 16-11. Later in the set, Emory was able to take a 24-16 lead thanks to attack errors from the Bulldogs but Texas Lutheran was able to add two more points before the Eagles earned their 25
th point for a 25-18 win in set two.

Set three was the best for the Bulldogs opening with three straight points but it didn't take long for Emory to tie the set up at three apiece. Both teams continued fighting before the Eagles took four straight points for an 11-7 lead. Moving towards the end of the set, Emory went on an 8-6 run to hold a 19-14 lead before Texas Lutheran fought back to a 20-18 deficit. The Eagles were able to close out the set with a 5-2 run to clinch the match with a 25-20 win in the third set.
