The 2024-25 season for the Emory University women's swimming & diving team featured the Eagles maintaining its title as the top program inside the University Athletic Association while also notching another top five finish at the NCAA Championships.
Infused with a talented group of newcomers to go along with a strong returning class, the Eagles finished fifth at the national meet in March – the 24th consecutive showing inside the top six. As a team, Emory saw 14 members earn First Team All-America recognition while also collecting 18 Second Team All-America nods. The Eagles scored 337 points across the four days in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Sophomore Katie Cohen excelled as an individual with a pair of finishes on the podium as she placed sixth and eighth in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke. Graduate student Penelope Helm added two third place efforts in the 200 and 500 Freestyles and senior Ava Kennedy had the team's best individual performance with a runner-up finish in the 50 Freestyle.
The Eagles reached the podium in all five relays with the 800 Freestyle Relay group of Helm, Natalie Boorjian, Elodie Mitchell and Katherine Swan leading the charge with a bronze medal performance.
Furthermore, the Eagles claimed consolation final wins in two events with freshman Allison Greeneway winning the 200 IM and graduate student Megan Jungers taking the top spot in the 100 Backstroke. Nineteen members of the Eagles' national team roster came away with at least one First Team or Second Team All-America effort.
Earlier in the season, the Eagles extended its run of excellence with its 26th straight conference crown in front of the home crowd at the Madeleine Jude Brown Aquatics Center in Atlanta.
Emory was pushed to limits as New York University challenged the Eagles for the title but in the end, the Eagles won the meet by 21 points – the closest margin of victory in the 37-year history of the UAA Championships.
Freshman Caitlin Crysel earned top honors for the Eagles as she became the latest team member to garner UAA Rookie of the Year honors. Crysel was a conference champion in the 200 IM and 200 Medley Relay and an All-UAA performer in three additional relays.
In addition to event wins by Crysel and the 200 Medley Relay, Cohen was a top performer for the Eagles as she swept the breaststroke titles. In total, the Eagles collected 21 All-UAA finishes during the week in Atlanta.
Emory's season also saw highlights on the academic side with 32 Eagles claiming CSCAA Scholar All-America status, including 19 on the First Team, and Boorjian added her name to the list of College Sports Communicators Academic All-Americans with her Third Team selection. In addition, diver Ariana Khan was a representative on the Emory 100 Senior Honorary list.
