Emory University softball junior
Ashley Chu has been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Third Team as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
Chu becomes the ninth softball athlete in program history to earn a spot on the CSC (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-America team and the first since Tyler Miller took home the honor in 2023. She is the 10th Eagle to earn the recognition for the 2024-25 academic calendar, bringing Emory's all-time total to 237 in its history.
The CSC Academic All-America team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. To be nominated, student-athletes must be a key member of their respective teams, maintain at least a 3.50 grade point average and be of sophomore standing or higher.
Chu had another dominating season in the Blue & Gold pacing the team with a .438 batting average while appearing and starting in all 47 games this season. She played a major role in helping Emory to its first postseason appearance since the 2019 season including a trip to the NCAA Super Regionals. Chu stole 42 bases in 43 attempts this season breaking the program record for most career stolen bases with 95 total. She also led the team touching home 51 times while posting a .945 OPS and a .471 on base percentage.
