The No. 3 ranked Emory University women's tennis team was back on its home courts Friday afternoon as the Eagles took care of business against the No. 15 ranked Babson College Beaves, 4-3.

The match got underway outside in Atlanta with the Beavers jumping out to an early lead by claiming the doubles point. Midway through doubles action a brief rain shower pushed play to the indoor courts where play continued for the rest of the afternoon. With play being interrupted, both teams played doubles to clinch. Babson earned the point by securing 6-2 results on both the top two courts. When play was halted, senior Eliza McPherron and sophomore Yanire Marte held a 4-2 lead on court three.

Needing a rally in singles, it was the bottom of the Emory lineup that delivered as spots No. 3 through No. 6 came through with straight decisions to give the Eagles their 12th win of the spring.

Marte and McPherron rolled their strong start into singles wins with Marte posting a 6-2, 6-2 result on court four and McPherron cashing in on court five by a 6-3, 6-2 line. Adding wins were junior Iris Berman in the No. 3 position, 6-2, 6-3, and graduate student Dakota Fordham in the No. 6 hole, 6-2, 6-2.

The Eagles will look to close out the weekend on Sunday as Emory hosts No. 17 ranked Case Western Reserve at 12:00 PM. Prior to the start of the match, Emory will recognize McPherron with a special on-court ceremony for Senior Day.
