Emory University women's soccer Head Coach Sue Patberg was recognized Wednesday afternoon as she was named the Region VI Coach of the Year as announced by the United Soccer Coaches.
Patberg and her staff of Catherine Whitehill, Lindsay Cobb and Lauren Burke led the Eagles to amazing heights during the 2025 season with the team advancing to the national semifinals for the second consecutive season and an appearance in the national championship. This year's women's soccer team established a new team record with 21 wins, going 21-2-1 overall, and boasted one of the most feared defenses in the country with the team ranking among the best in the nation in goals against average while setting a team record with 18 shutouts.
Under Patberg's leadership, the Eagles set a record with three All-Americans in a single season to go along with five All-Region selections and seven All-UAA honorees. Patberg and her staff were previously honored as the UAA Coaching Staff of the Year. This is the second time Patberg has been honored with the regional honor, having previously earned the award in 2011.
The United Soccer Coaches National Coaching Staff of the Year will be announced on December 19.
