The Emory University volleyball program finished the annual Vikings Classic with a 3-0 victory over the Centre College Colonels on Saturday morning in Mount Berry, Georgia.

The No. 6 ranked Eagles improve to 11-1 on the season with their win over the No. 22 ranked Colonels and have won nine of their last 10 matches. Seniors
Jessica Majka and
Madison Cail led the way offensively totaling 21 kills between the two of them. Junior
Kate LaRocco continued her impressive weekend posting nine kills, 14 digs and four service aces in the match.

Emory was able to open the match with a 5-3 lead in the first set highlighted by two kills from sophomore
Sophia Luo but the Colonels answered with kills of their own to tie the match at five. The next six points were back and forth with the Eagles posting a slight 9-7 advantage before notching six straight points to take a 15-7 lead. The two teams continued evenly for the next 10 points before Emory closed the set with five straight points to take the set 25-13.

The Colonels came out swinging posting three points to open set two but the Eagles answered with five points to take a slight lead. Centre later tied the set at six apiece followed by a 7-3 run from Emory to hold a 13-9 advantage. The next six points were split between the two teams but the momentum stayed with the Eagles finishing with a 9-2 run clinching the second set with a 25-14 line.

Centre was looking for a battle in the third set opening with a 4-1 run but Emory answered with six points highlighted by three kills to take a 7-4 lead. The Colonels continued to fight for the next seven points cutting the Eagles' lead to 10-8 but Emory pulled away with a nine point run with eight of those points coming from LaRocco and junior
Kaya Monrose helping hold the 19-8 lead. The Eagles were able to end the set on a 6-4 run to clinch the set and the match with a 25-13 score.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday, September 28 where they will compete in the first UAA Round Robin of the season. They will face WashU (11:00 AM) and Rochester (3:00 PM) on Saturday and Case Western Reserve (12:00 PM ) on Sunday in New York, New York.
