The Emory University men's soccer team fell in its rematch against No. 7 ranked Colorado College, 2-1, Saturday night at Stewart Field in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
With the defeat, the Eagles will return to Atlanta with a  2-3-1 record while the Tigers stayed unbeaten so far in 2024 at 5-0-1.
Saturday night was a defensive stall in the early goings as both teams got reacquainted with each other after previously facing off in the second round of the NCAA tournament at the WoodPEC last November.
With neither side mustering a shot on goal through the first 33 minutes of the game, the Tigers rectified that at 33:28 as the first shot on frame for either team found the back of the net with Luke Stefanski putting CC on the scoreboard.
The score remained 1-0 at the break with Emory posting a 4-3 advantage in shots through the opening 45 minutes.
Like Colorado College did in the first half, the Eagles followed suite in the second half as Emory's first shot on goal in the contest also found nylon with graduate student Ryan Winkler scoring his second goal in an Eagle uniform to level the score at 1-1 at the 59:52 mark. Junior Josh Grand collected his team-leading third assist on the goal.
The even score was short-lived as the Tigers regained control of the lead just three minutes later on a go-ahead score from Wyatt Linggi.
Trailing once more, Emory was able to fire off a bevy of shot attempts over the final 27Â minutes of play but to no avail. The Eagles registered eight of their 12 second half opportunities after the second CC goal with Grand and freshman Phillip Head putting shots on frame in the 71st and 89th minutes but were stopped by the Tigers' keeper.
For the game, Emory led in total shots (16-6) while the teams matched shots on goal at three apiece. The Eagles also earned six more corner kicks, finishing with an 8-2 edge.
Emory continues its road swing Wednesday night with a meeting against the Sewanee Tigers at 8:30 PM ET.
