The Emory men's basketball team opened its excursion to Spain with a win over the weekend as the Eagles defeated the Madrid All-Stars 93-79.
Rising junior
Ben Pearce led all Emory scorers with 21 points in the 14-point victory while four other Eagles joined him in double figures. Pearce added a team-high four assists to go along with three steals and two rebounds.
Classmate
Jair Knight posted 16 points and added three thefts. Rounding out the scoring was rising senior
Cale Martens with 13 points and rising sophomores
AJ Harris and
Ethan Fauss with 11 points each. Martens and Fauss each grabbed seven rebounds, as did rising senior
Logan Shanahan.
In total, ten of the 11 Eagles that saw game action found their way into the scoring column.
"It always is exciting to get on the court with our team," said Head Coach
Jason Zimmerman following the game. "This being the first competition in over 6 months added to that feeling. It took us a bit to get our feet under us, but we played well for the middle two quarters. And finished the fourth with a couple of big plays."
"Madrid has been an incredible host for our first two days of the trip," Zimmerman continued. "We look forward to heading to Valencia."
