The No. 2 ranked Emory University women's swimming & diving team was back in Atlanta Saturday afternoon, hosting the Sewanee Tigers in dual meet action. The Eagles won all 16 events across the dominating 251-45 victory in front of a packed house that included fans, family and alumni on Alumni Weekend.
In addition to winning all 16 events contested, the Eagles registered four NCAA B Cuts in their final dual meet of the semester.
Freshman Elodie Mitchell and junior Ren Watt highlighted the Emory caps in the water with multiple wins. Mitchell took first in the 200 Fly with a NCAA B Cut of 2:03.25 prior to taking the top spot in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:08.22. On the diving boards, Watt swept both events as she posted scores of 260.32 in the 1-meter and 259.65 in the 3-meter.
Freshmen Allison Greeneway continued to post fast times, securing a pair of the team's qualifying times. Greeneway was an event winner in the 200 IM at 2:03.89 and was second in the 100 Backstroke (56.50) behind graduate student Megan Jungers (56.46) as both Eagles went under the NCAA qualifying standard.
Adding individual wins for the Eagles were senior Jada Chatoor in the 1000 Freestyle (10:35.14), graduate student Penelope Helm in the 200 Freestyle (1:55.20), freshman Caitlin Crysel in the 100 Breaststroke (1:04.88), senior Ava Kennedy in the 50 Freestyle (24.14), sophomore Meredith Teague in the 100 Freestyle (53.66), junior Isabel Huang in the 200 Backstroke (2:04.28), freshman Sophia Joos in the 200 Breaststroke (2:20.83) and sophomore Maren McDonald in the 100 Fly (56.87).
Rounding out the Emory winners were the relay squads of McDonald, junior Penny Celtnieks and sophomores Katie Cohen and Natalie Boorjian in the 200 Medley (1:45.09) and Jungers, Crysel, sophomore Sammy McClintock and junior Jane Sanderson in the 200 Freestyle (1:36.50).
The Eagles will be off next weekend prior to hosting its Fall Invitational on November 8-9 when Carsen-Newman, Wingate, Georgia Southern and Cumberlands visit the Madeleine Jude Brown Aquatic Center.
