Michael Edelman's Walkoff Single Lifts Emory Baseball Past Berry

Box Score

Freshman Michael Edelman's walk off single in the bottom of the ninth capped off the Emory University Baseball program's 6-5 come-from-behind win over the Berry College Vikings Tuesday afternoon at Chappell Park in Atlanta, GA.

The win snapped a six game losing skid for the Eagles as they improved to 5-9 overall while the Vikings saw their five-game winning streak halted as they dropped to 12-5.

Edelman and junior NJ Kim recorded back-to-back two out, run scoring singles to erase a one-run deficit in the home half of the ninth inning. Sophomore Christopher Stern led off the frame with a single before senior Bubby Terp and junior Eric Terry were sent down on strikes. Senior Nick Chambers kept the inning alive with base knock, moving pinch-runner Ryan Adelman to second. Kim stepped to the plate as a pinch-hitter for sophomore David Shore and delivered a single up the middle to bring home Adelman. After a pitching change for the Vikings, Edelman deposited the game-winning hit back up the middle, scoring Chambers with the winning run.

Junior Charlie Redovian earned his first career win as he pitched 2.2 perfect innings in relief with a pair of strikeouts. Freshman Jack Moore started the ballgame, allowing four runs in five innings with two strikeouts.

The Eagles look to keep the momentum rolling as Emory hosts Stevens Institute of Technology Friday afternoon at Chappell Park. First pitch is set for 12:00 PM.
