Billy Dimlow Strikes Out 10 as Emory Baseball Pushes Win Streak to Nine

Box Score

Sophomore Billy Dimlow shined on the mound again Saturday afternoon, allowing one unearned run in eight innings of work as the Emory University Baseball team pushed its season-long winning streak to nine games with a 5-1 victory at Huntingdon College. The Eagles now sit at 9-0 on the year while the Hawks fall to 2-9.

Dimlow racked up double-digit strikeouts for the second time in 2017, punching out 10 Hawks to record his second win of the season. He allowed just the one unearned run on seven hits and a walk. Through three starts this season, Dimlow has yet to allow an earned run in 22 innings pitched while striking out 30 batters compared to just two free passes.

Emory jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead through the first two innings. Senior Jeff Ronpirin singled to right to plate classmate Wilson Morgan in the first inning. The Eagles tacked on two more in the second as senior Philip Maldari and junior Mitch Kerner came around to score on a wild pitch with sophomore NJ Kim at the plate.

After Huntingdon got on the scoreboard in the third, Emory responded with one of its own in the top half of the fourth as senior Brian Hernandez singled to center to score Morgan. The Eagles added an insurance run in the eighth as Maldari came home on a passed ball.

Maldari went 3-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs scored while Kerner and Hernandez each collected two base hits and a theft for the Emory offense.

The Eagles and Hawks wrap up their three-game weekend series Sunday afternoon in Atlanta, GA. First pitch from Chappell Park is set for 2:00 PM.
