Box Score Emory University's offense bounced back from a shutout loss on Saturday with 12 runs on 17 hits on Sunday to defeat Maryville College 12-4 in Maryville, Tennessee.
All nine Emory starters and 10 total Eagles registered hits in the game, including a three-for-five day from sophomore left fielder Wilson Morgan, including a double. Junior second baseman Dylan Eisner added a three-for-six day at the play, while sophomore third baseman Philip Maldari was two-for-five with three runs scored.
The Eagles jumped out to an early lead in the game, collecting five-straight two out hits to score four runs. Junior designated hitter Ben Vizvary plated the first run of the game with a single that scored senior right fielder Brett Lake, with Morgan later following with a two-RBI double, and senior first baseman Jordan Selbach capping off the scoring with an RBI single.
Maryville cut the lead to 4-1 with a run in the bottom of the first, but the Eagles got the run back in the third on a sacrifice fly from freshman shortstop Nick Chambers. The Scots would stay within striking distance with another run in the bottom of the frame, but Emory would break the game open for good with three in the top of the sixth inning, and four more in the top of the eighth.
Freshman Matt Randolph picked up the win in relief, improving to 2-1 after allowing one run on three hits and striking out a pair. Starter Luke Emmett received a no-decision after going the first two and a third innings, surrendering one run on a pair of hits.
Maryville starter Jeremy Ibarra took the loss, falling to 5-3.
The Eagles improved to 22-11 overall, while Maryville dropped to 23-12.
The Eagles will be back in action on Tuesday, April 14th, traveling to Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Georgia for a 4:00 pm matchup with the Scots.
