Box Score Emory University struggled both at the plate and in the field on Saturday afternoon, falling 8-0 to Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee.
The loss ended a five-game winning streak for the Eagles, and dropped the team's record to 21-11 for the year. Maryville raised its season ledger to 23-11 with the victory.
The Eagles collected just four hits against Maryville pitcher Seth Debity, who went the distance in the game to pick up the complete-game shutout. Senior Wes Peacock picked up two of the team's four hits, including a double.
Maryville scored a run in the third inning and broke the game open with six runs in the fourth against Emory starter Connor Dillman, who took the loss to fall to 5-4 on the year. Freshmen Matt Randolph and Danny Kerning and senior Michael Byman each pitched a scoreless inning in relief.
Emory and Maryville will wrap-up their weekend series tomorrow at 2:00 pm.
