Box Score The Emory University Baseball team fell to Piedmont College 12-7 in a high-scoring affair in Demorest, Georgia on Friday night.
Emory dropped to 12-6 overall on the year with the loss, the team's second-straight setback. Piedmont improved to 13-6 with the win.
The Lions took a 6-2 lead with a five-run bottom of the fifth inning off Emory starter Paul Merolla, and would not trail again in the game. Sophomore third baseman Philip Maldari finished the game with three RBIs for the Eagles, while senior Brett Lake, junior Dylan Eisner and senior Jordan Selbach each registered a pair of hits during the game.
Merolla took the loss for the Eagles, falling to 0-1 on the season. Starter Chris Goershel picked up the win for Piedmont, improving to 3-1 overall.
Emory will return home tomorrow to continue its weekend schedule with a doubleheader against Hendrix College, beginning at 12:00 pm.
