Emory University freshman first baseman Ben Vizvary went three-for-three with two RBIs, and freshman designated hitter Chris Slivka added a two-for-three day with three runs scored, as the Eagles defeated Maryville 9-2 at Chappell Park on Wednesday afternoon.

The Eagles have now won three-straight games and six of their last seven contests, improving to 19-14 with six games left this season.

Aided by the efforts of Vizvary and Slivka, the Eagles' offense pounded out 11 hits in the game.  Seven different Eagles drove in runs during the contests, and Emory stole seven bases on as many attempts, including three from junior Brandon Hannon.

Emory jumped out to an early lead for the second-straight game, scoring three in the first inning on a sacrifice fly from Daniel Iturrey, and back-to-back two out RBI singles from Slivka and Vizvary.  The Eagles scored another run in the fourth when Slivka crossed the plate on a wild pitch, and added another in the fifth on Vizvary's second RBI hit of the game.

Emory added two runs in each of the eighth and ninth innings to extend the lead further and secure the victory.

Meanwhile, making his first start of the season, junior Matt McMahon limited Maryville to just two runs on six hits over five innings, earning the victory in the game to improve to 3-3 for the year.  Sophomore Michael Byman allowed just one hit over three scoreless relief innings, while Robert Gross struck out three batters in a scoreless ninth to close out the game.

Maryville starting pitcher Matt Dyer (2-4) took the loss, as the Scots dropped to 16-23 for the season.  The win gave the Eagles a season sweep of the two-game series against the Scots this year. 

Emory will return to action this weekend, hosting Methodist University at 1:00 PM on both Saturday and Sunday at Chappell Park.
