No. 2 Emory Men's Tennis Rolls By DePauw University

The No. 2-ranked Emory men's tennis team remained undefeated Saturday afternoon as it recorded an impressive victory over No. 30  DePauw University at the Woodruff PE Center.  The Eagles ran their record to 13-0 after posting a 9-0 verdict over the Tigers who slipped to 10-4.

The Eagles emerged with a 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles for the eighth time this spring.  The No. 2 tandem of junior Elliott Kahler and freshman Ian Wagner upped their record to 11-1 at that position (12-1 overall) following a solid 8-3 verdict over Eric Hubbard and David Moss.  Senior Dillion Pottish and freshman Brian Kowalski earned an 8-3 triumph at the No. 3 spot while seniors Chris Goodwin and Will Humphreys battled to an 8-6 victory over Sam Miles and Ben Kopecky at No. 1.

Emory continued its momentum in the singles portion of the contest, winning five of the six matches in straight sets.   Pottish, the No. 1-ranked player in all of Division III, manufactured a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Sam Miles at the No. 1 post, upping his spring record to 12-1.  Goodwin, playing his second straight match at No. 2, came away with a 7-5, 6-0 decision over Kopecky.  Wagner bettered Noah Swiler at No. 4, 6-1, 6-2, increasing his record to 11-2 this spring, while freshmen Eric Halpern and Alex Ruderman, posted victories at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively.  Kowalski was stretched to three sets but emerged victorious against Michael Rardon at No. 3.

The Eagles return to action on Saturday, April 7, when they host Coastal Georgia in a 1:00 p.m. start.
