Dillon Pottish Captures Semifinal Match At ITA Small College Championships -- Will Play For D-III Singles Crown On Saturday

Emory senior Dillon Pottish will look to defend his D-III singles crown at the ITA Small College National Championships following a semifinal-round victory over Andy Hersh of Johns Hopkins University on Friday.   Pottish earned his spot in the title match and upped his record to 8-0 on the year following a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Hersh.   The Small College Championships are being held in Mobile, Alabama.

Pottish, the No. 1 seed, will meet Adam Putterman of University Athletic Association rival Washington University Saturday morning beginning at 8:30 am CDT.   Putterman topped Alex Lane of Claremont-Mudd Scripps in his semifinal encounter, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.

Pottish's decision over Hersch was his 71st singles win at Emory, tying Todd Getz (1991-95) for 14th place on the school's all-time ladder.

The USTA/ITA National Small College Championships are comprised of the eight regional champions (and/or at-large selections) from NCAA Divisions II and III, NAIA and Junior/Community Colleges. The winner of Saturday's match advances to the "Super Bowl", which consists of the singles champions from NCAA Division II, Division III, NAIA and JUCO.

The "Super Bowl" champion earn a wild card into the 2011 USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships held at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center November 3-6.
