Biography
Senior (2021-22):
Cater proved to be an invaluable member of the 2021-22 Eagles squad playing in and starting 22 games for Emory as its primary facilitator… Cater finished second on the team in total assists racking up 46 over the course of the season… Finished the season with a 2.0 assist to turnover ratio which was the best mark on the team by a wide margin… Pesky on the defensive side as well, she recorded 18 steals as well… Averaged 3.2 points per game on a tidy 32.5 field goal percentage… Registered two or more assists in ten games this season… As one of the primary ball handlers, Cater put up a career high six assists to help defeat Carnegie Mellon (Feb. 20) in the last home victory of the season… A career best scoring day in which Cater registered 10 points helped the Eagles to fell WashU (Jan. 14) and earn the season sweep over the Bears for the first time in program history… In a tough overtime loss to Case Western Reserve (Feb. 18) she posted a career-high three steals… Was named to the 2021-22 UAA Winter All-Academic Team.
Sophomore (2019-20):
Played in 25 games as a sophomore with all appearances coming in a reserve capacity…Logged 14.5 minutes per game…Reached the scoring column in all but eight contests, averaging 2.0 PPG over the course of the season…Recorded a career-high of six points on two different occasions…Knocked down 3-of-4 shots in 14 minutes in the season opener at Piedmont (Nov. 13)…Tied that output with a 3-for-3 shooting performance in a season-high 23 minutes on the road at UAA-foe Case Western Reserve (Feb. 23)…Set a new career-best with eight rebounds in a road win at Pomona-Pitzer on Nov. 23…Doled out a season-high five assists in January 24th’s win over Carnegie Mellon and was third on the team with 45 dimes…Paced the Eagles with a team-leading 31 steals including a season-high mark of three that she notched in three different games: Agnes Scott (Dec. 10), CWRU (Jan. 26) and Rochester (Feb. 29).
Freshman (2018-19):
First year in the program saw her appear as a reserve in 24 games ... Averaged 7.8 minutes per outing ... Got into the scoring column in 10 contests ... Longest playing stint was a 31-minute performance vs. Sewanee (Nov. 27) where she finished with five points and one assist ... Logged 18 minutes and finished with a season-high four assists, while adding a season-best four steals that paced the team in an 86-47 victory over Agnes Scott (Dec. 11) ... Registered a season-high six rebounds over 17 minutes in the squad's 64-37 victory over Virginia Wesleyan (Nov. 17) ... Longest UAA playing effort saw her total 11 minutes in the regular-season finale vs. Rochester (Feb. 23) where she sank both of her field goal attempts en route to a four-point afternoon.
High School:
Four-year member of the basketball program at Creekview High School ... Was coached by Roger Nolan ... Served as team captain her senior season ... Class AAAAAA Honorable Mention All-State her final campaign after averaging 16.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game ... Earned berths on the all-region team in 2017 and 2018 ... As a junior, she posted averages of 12.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per contest in helping Creekview to a region title ... Team MVP and Offensive Player of the year as a senior ... Recognized as a Superintendent Key Scholar in 2017 ... Received the Georgia Certificate of Merit ... Also competed in cross country for two seasons.
