Biography

Senior (2006):

Kaufman was named to both the d3kicks.com and NSCAA/AdidasAll-South Region second team.  The defender was also named tothe All-University Athletic Association team for thesecond-consecutive year.  Kaufman, who served as a co-captainduring his senior season, started each of Emory's 17 games duringthe season.  He scored one goal during the season, comingduring a 3-0 win over Greensboro College (N.C.).  The seniorwas a key member of the Eagles' backfield as well, which compiled a0.93 goals against average and seven shutouts during theyear.  He finishes his Emory career with two goals and fourassists for eight points.

Junior (2005):

Kaufman was named to all-region third team and theall-conference first team for his performance on the Emory defenseduring his junior year.  He was named the University AthleticAssociation (UAA) defensive player of the week on October3rd.  Kaufman was part of an Emory defense that had theninth-highest shutout percentage in Division III soccer, the16th-best team goals against average and broke a school record byshutting out 14 of its 19 opponents.  He played in all 19games for the Eagles, starting 16 of them.

Sophomore (2004):

Kaufman played in 18 games for the Eagles, starting 16. Hefinished the season with one goal and one assist for three points.The lone goal, the first of Kaufman's career, came on Sept. 12against Mary Washington (VA).

Freshman (2003):

Matthew Kaufman started 14 games for Emory University. He waschosen conference Athlete of the Week once. He had one assist onthe season.
