Biography

Senior (2007):

Babb finished his Emory career as one of the school's mostaccomplished closers.  His 11 career saves are the second mostin school history, his 2.55 earned run average is the eighth-bestin school history, and his 64 career appearances are the secondmost for an Emory pitcher.  Babb was named to the All-RegionSecond Team in 2007, and finished the year with an 8-2 record a1.48 ERA and 45 strikeouts with 48.2 innings pitched over ateam-high 26 appearances.  His six saves during the seasonwere the 23rd-most in Division III this season, and his eight winswere the 32nd-most in the nation.  His victory total also setan Emory record for the most wins out of the bullpen in a season byan Eagle.  At the Division III Championship, Babb did notallow an earned run in 5.1 innings pitched, striking out fourbatters.  He pitched in each of the Eagles' final three gamesof the NCAA Regional Tournament, and was the pitcher of record inthe Eagles' 6-5 tournament-clinching victory against Ferrum College(Va.), throwing 1.2 scoreless innings to close out the 12-inninggame.  Babb pitched seven innings of relief against MaryvilleCollege (Tenn.), the longest outing of his career, allowing justthree hits and striking out four.  He showed his prowess atthe plate as well during the season, belting a three run home runin his first at bat of the season against the University of theSouth (Tenn.). 

Junior (2006):

Babb pitched 25.2 innings this season, recording 21strikeouts.  He had a season-high three strikeouts on twooccasions against Oglethorpe University (Ga.) on March 2 andWashington University (Mo.) on March 17.  He finished theseason with a record of 3-2 and 4 saves to go with a 3.86 ERA.

Sophomore (2005):

Sophomore pitcher made 11 appearances in 2005, striking out 12in 14.1 innings. Struck out at least one batter in eightappearances.

Freshman (2004):

Babb did not allow a run in nine appearances and held opposingbatters to a .143 batting average. He earned his first collegiatevictory with three innings of shutout relief against Rochester(N.Y.) March 7.

Attended Ashland High School, where he played on the baseballteam for four seasons... Served as the team captain during hissenior season... Was named to the Tri-Valley League All-Star firstteam in 2002, and the second team in 2001 and 2003... Was theteam's most valuable player in 2002... Named the Metrowest DailyNews Athlete of the Week in 2003... Coached by Kevin Maines... Alsoplayed football and basketball in high school.
