Freshman (2008):

Sandman played in 21 games for the Eagles, as a pitcher,designated hitter, and first baseman.  He went 1-0 with a 5.68earned run average during nine relief appearances during theseason, striking out 17 batters in 19 innings.  Sandman heldleft-handed hitters to a .267 batting average (four-for-15) duringthe season.  He made four starts as Emory's designated hitter,with an overall batting average of .143 with four runs batted induring the season.

Attended the Peddie School, where he played for four seasons onthe baseball team, serving as the team's captain during his juniorand senior seasons... Named to the All-Prep A State First team in2007, and the Second Team in 2005 and 2006... Batted .408 with fourhome runs, and struck out 64 batters in 36 innings during hissenior season... Helped his team to a Prep A State Championship in2005, and a second-place finish at the state championship in2006... Was coached by Erik Treese in high school, and alsoparticipated in crew and wrestling.
