Biography

Senior (2012):

O'Connor made the move to shortstop for the Eagles in 2012,playing every inning of every game at the position during theseason.  He finished the season with a .227 batting average,collecting 32 hits in 141 at bats, but accumulating 34 walks toraise his on-base percentage to .377 for the campaign.  Heranked 12th among Division III players in walks during the year,and 10th with 0.88 walks per game.  O'Connor also drove in 25runs and scored 18 of his own, collecting four doubles, a tripleand a home run.  O'Connor hit his only home run of the seasonagainst Birmingham-Southern College on February 10th, goingone-for-one in the game with two RBIs and three walks.  Theleft-handed hitter went four-for-four against Piedmont College onApril 1st, with a double, a triple, three runs scored and fourRBIs.  He added another four hit game against Oglethorpe onApril 29th, driving in two runs during the game.  O'Connorends his Emory career with the second-most walks in school history(117), the third-most double plays turned (90), the fourth-mostassists (431), and tied for the 11th-most doubles (39) and13th-most triples (5).  O'Connor was also recognized for hisacademic achievements during the year, as he was named to theCapital One/ CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team.  

Junior (2011):

O'Connor was named to the ABCA All-South Region Third Team andAll-University Athletic Association (UAA) Second Team, afterbatting .329 with one home run and 31 RBIs during the year. He also earned Rawlings/ABCA South Region Gold Glove recognitionfor his play at second base, recording a fielding percentage of.979 and committing just four errors during the campign. O'Connor was one of just two Emory players to start all 43 gamesduring the season.  His 37 walks during the campaign were tiedfor the team lead and seventh among Division III players, and werethe second-most in the program's history.  In addition, heranked 13th among Division III players with 0.86 walks per game,54th with five sacrifice flies, and 119th with 14 doubles. O'Connor finished the year with 15 multiple hit games and eightmultiple RBI games.  He picked up his home run at HuntingdonCollege on March 2nd, as part of a three-for-fourperformance.  O'Connor was named to the all-UAA TournamentTeam, after batting .409 over Emory’s six tournament games(nine-for-22), driving in five runs, scoring six, and collectingfour doubles.  He will enter his senior year ranked ninth inschool history with 82 walks and 12th with a .442 on basepercentage over his career. 

Sophomore (2010):

O'Connor emerged as one of Emory's top offensive threats duringthe 2010 season, earning all-UAA first team recognition for hisplay during the year.  He finished third on the team with a.375 batting average, while leading all Emory players with 37 runsbatted in, three triples, and a .594 sluggingpercentage.  In addition, he was second on the squad with 13doubles and third with three home runs.  O'Connor led allqualifying Emory players with a .429 batting average against righthanded pitchers (39-for-91), in addition to having the mostmultiple hit games (18) and multiple RBI games (13).  He hithis first career home run on February 28th against LaGrangeCollege, going three-for-four during the game to help Emory to an8-5 win.  O'Connor drove in a career-high five runs on March5th against Denison University, going two-for-four with a doublesand a triple.

Freshman (2009):

O'Connor played in 39 of Emory's 42 games during his freshmanseason, making 36 starts.  He finished the year with a .262batting average, while scoring 30 runs and driving in 13.  Hefinished second on the team with 26 walks, raising his season onbase percentage to .400.  O'Connor also stole nine bases on 14attempts during the campaign.  In the field, O'Connor spentmost of his time at second base, while also making four appearancesat shortstop, and recorded just four errors for a .975 fieldingpercentage.  He reached in 33 of the 39 games he played induring the season, picking up five multiple hit games. O'Connor recorded a season-best three hits against North CarolinaWesleyan on February 21st, going three-for-five with two runsscored and an RBI.
