Biography

Senior (2007):

Ganzer put together the best season of his career for the Eaglesin 2007, including one of the gutsiest pitching performances inschool history.  Pitching on just two days rest, Ganzer wentnine innings for the Eagles in the NCAA Championship Game againstKean University (N.J.), receiving a no decision while striking outeight batters.  He led all pitchers at the Championshiptournament with 16 innings pitched and 15 strikeouts.  In hisfour starts during the Eagles' postseason run, Ganzer went 1-0 witha 3.14 earned run average and 24 strikeouts in 28.2 inningspitched.  He was one of three Eagles named to the All-NCAASouth Regional Tournament team, after going 1-0 with a 3.55 ERA andnine strikeouts in two starts.  Ganzer finished the seasonwith a 2.45 earned run average (89th in Division III), an 8-1record (the 32nd-most wins in Division III) and 95 strikeouts (10thin Division III).  His 8.3 strikeouts per nine innings was the96th-best ratio in the nation during the year.  Ganzer pitchedeight innings of one-hit shutout baseball with nine strikeouts onMarch 24th against Piedmont College (Ga.).  He opened hisseason with a complete-game victory against Methodist University(N.C.) on February 18th, and pitched seven scoreless innings whilestriking out 10 batters against Maryville College (Tenn.) on April24th.  Ganzer finished his Emory career with a 19-8 record anda 2.82 earned run average.  His 218 career strikeouts are theseventh-most in school history.

Junior (2006):

As a pitcher, Ganzer appeared in 17 games and startednine.  He finished the season with an ERA of 2.22, whilerecording 74 strikeouts.  Ganzer went 6-3 on the season, whilealso recording two saves.  Recorded a season-high 10strikeouts on two difference occasions, against Maryville College(Tenn.) on March 5 and the University of Rochester (N.Y.) on March15.  Was named first team All-UAA.

Sophomore (2005):

Ganzer earned a spot on the all-conference first team in hisfirst year at Emory. The sophomore finished second in strikeoutsamong all pitchers, fanning nine batters in 10 innings. He heldopponents to a .143 batting average and did not issue a walk enroute to a 2.70 earned run average in the tournament. Ganzerfinished the season first on the team in wins, strikeouts andopponents batting average and third in ERA. He made 11 reliefappearances and five starts. On April 13 against The University ofthe South (Tenn.), he gave up one run in nine innings whilerecording 10 strikeouts, tied for fifth-most in school history.
