Biography

Senior (2008):

Pfister completed one of the most successful careers in thehistory of the Emory University Baseball program.  The seniorwas named the ABCA/ Rawlings Gold Glove third baseman for the SouthRegion, after committing just nine errors at the hot corner. Pfister was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) MostValuable Player after batting .462 (12-for-26) with two doubles anda home run during the six-game round robin, with a tournament-best10 runs batted in.  He also earned a spot on the ABCA/Rawlings all-South Region second team, and on the ESPN the MagazineAcademic All-District first team.  Pfister started all 37games at third base for the Eagles, leading the team with acareer-high six home runs, 14 doubles, 51 runs batted in, and a.590 slugging percentage.  He struck out just seven timesduring the season, despite leading the team with 161 at bats. He finished his Emory career third in school history with 220 hitsand 143 RBIs, and seventh with a .369 batting average.  Afterthe season, Pfister was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 17thround of the 2008 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft.

Junior (2007):

Pfister's 2007 season was one of the best offensive seasons inschool history.  He started each of Emory's 53 games, leadingthe team with a .387 batting average and 51 runs scored, and wassecond on the club with 47 runs batted in.  His 87 hits duringthe year was the highest single-season total in school history, andthe 18th-most in Division III history.  While setting a schoolrecord with 225 at bats during the season (the fifth-most inDivision III history), Pfister struck out just 10 times, the53rd-best ratio in the nation.  The third baseman was namedthe Most Valuable Player of the NCAA South Regional Tournament,after batting .640 with four doubles and seven runs scored, andmaking a number of dazzling defensive plays over five games. In addition, Pfister was named to the NCAA Division III NationalChampionship All-Tournament team (.360 average with four RBIs oversix games) and the All-University Athletic Association first team(.364 with six runs scored in six games).  Pfister recordedthe second-longest hitting streak in the nation this year, hittingsafely in 25 games from March 3rd until April 10th.  Heconcluded the season with an 18-game hit streak, the sixth-longestin the nation during the year.  Pfister led the Eagles withfour games of four hits or more over the course of theseason. 

Sophomore (2006):

Pfister turned in a solid campaign in his second year as anEagle as he was named first team All-UAA.  He finished theyear with a batting average of .375, while competing in 39contests.  For the year he collected 54 hits and recorded 36RBI and scored 26 runs.  Against Division II North GeorgiaState on March 22 he finished 3-4 and recorded two RBI.  In adouble-header against Methodist College (N.C.), Pfister finished5-10 with three runs scored, two RBI and a double.  Recorded ahomerun against Oglethorpe University (Ga.) on March 2. Finished the year with eight stolen bases, highlighted by a threesteal performance against Oglethorpe University on April 5.

Freshman (2005):

Infielder began his collegiate career with a six-game hittingstreak, and earned 21 starts this year. Batted .273 in 66 at-bats.February 25 versus Virginia Wesleyan College, went 2-for-2 withthree RBI and a walk.

Prior to Emory:

Played on the Harvard-Westlake High School baseball team forfour seasons, serving as the captain of the team during his senioryear... Was an all-Mission league second baseman his junior year,and an all-Mission league shortstop his senior year... Hit .385with four homeruns during the 2004 season, and .398 with onehomerun during the 2003 season... Was coached by Tim Cunningham.

Personal:

Born on August 25, 1986... Was teammates with former Emorypitcher Jason Glushon on Harvard-Westlake's city runner-up team in2003.
