Biography

Sophomore (2013):

Finer raised his game during his sophomore campaign, going 2-0with a 2.84 ERA over six appearances and four starts.  Heallowed just six earned runs over 19 innings, limiting opponents toa .293 average during the season.  Finer was at his best in astarting role during the year with a 2.12 ERA as a starter, thelowest mark among Emory pitchers during the season.  In hisfour starts, spanning 17 innings, he allowed just four earned runsand eight runs total.  The southpaw picked up his firstcollegiate victory on March 30th, allowing one run onfour hits over five innings against Covenant.  On April7th, he limited Hendrix to one unearned run on six hitsand notched a career-best four strikeouts over five innings to earnanother win.  Finer allowed just one earned run over his final16.2 innings pitched in 2013 (spanning four appearances), good fora 0.54 ERA.  Left-handed hitters were just eight-for-30 (.267)against Finer during the year.

Freshman (2012):

Finer appeared in six games out of the bullpen for Emory duringhis freshman season.  The southpaw pitched a scoreless inningduring his collegiate debut on February 21st, a 5-2 win overWashington and Lee University, and was perfect over two-thirds ofan inning against Methodist University on April 21st. Opponents his just .235 (four-for-17) against Finer withrunners on base during the season.

Played for the Kent Denver School baseball team for fourseasons, serving as the team's captain during his junior and seniorseasons... Was an all-state pitcher his senior year... First teamall-conference honoree as a utility player and a pitcher his juniorand senior years... Struck out 50 batters in 41 innings pitchedwith a 3.25 ERA and two shutouts during his 2011 campaign...Coached by Bill Boatman... Also a four-year letterwinner inbasketball and a two-time all-conference player... Earned all-statehonors for basketball during his senior year.
