Biography

Senior (2017):

All-University Athletic Association First Team…Was one of three Eagles to make a team-leading 39 starts in 2017…Led the Eagles in average (.333), hits (47), home runs (4), total bases (67), slugging percentage (.475) and multi-hit games (14)…Was named the UAA Athlete of the Week on March 13th after leading Emory to a 3-1 record against Oglethorpe and Piedmont, going 7-for-16 (.438) in the four games, recording a hit and run scored in all four contests, driving in a run in three games and was 4-for-4 with two RBIs and stolen base, falling a triple short of the cycle in the Eagles' 5-0 win over Piedmont on March 11th…He was named the UAA Hitter of the Week for the second time on April 24th after plating 10 of the 35 Emory runs in a 3-1 series win over NYU to finish the regular season…Hernandez had at least one hit and one RBI in all four games, going 7-for-16 (.438) with two doubles and a home run and drove in a career-high five runs in the finale on April 22nd…In Emory’s two NCAA tournament games versus Rowan and Roanoke, he went 3-for-8 with two RBI, a home run and one run scored.

Junior (2016):

ABCA/Rawlings All-South Region and D3Baseball.com All-South Region Third Team selection…Named All-University Athletic Association First Team…Hernandez was one of two Eagles to start every game of the season in 2016 and was a leader on offense, leading in several statistical categories: average (.376), hits (65), doubles (10), home runs (4), RBI (50), slugging percentage (.514) and collected nine sacrifice flies, which was the second most in a single season in school history and ranked second nationally…Hernandez also led the team with 19 multi-hit games and 16 multi-RBI games…He was named to the NCAA South Regional All-Tournament team after batting .400 (6-for-15) with six RBI…Hernandez added UAA Athlete of the Week honors twice throughout the season and was the lone Eagle to be named to the D3Baseball.com National Team of the Week after hitting a blistering .647 (11-for-17) with one double, one HR and seven RBI in Emory’s first four games of the season.

Sophomore (2015):

Hernandez made 27 appearances including 13 starts for the Eagles during his sophomore season. He registered 20 hits on the season with three doubles and added 11 runs batted in and 12 runs scored. Hernandez was also a perfect seven-for-seven in stolen base attempts on the year. The sophomore was the lone Eagle to be named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week during the season. Hernandez earned the honor after going six-for-eight with a double, three walks, five runs scored, four runs batted in, and a pair of stolen bases. He added a walk off win with a two-out single in the bottom of the ninth to defeat LaGrange College 9-8.

Was a member of the G. Holmes Braddock Senior High School team, serving as a team captain... Won his team's top-hitter award in 2010 and 2013... All-Dade County Honorable Mention in 2013... All-District Team in 2012 and 2013... Coached by Victor Montalvo and Manny Fernandez.

Personal:

Born July 18th... AP Scholar award winner in English and History in high school.
