Senior (2014):
Hinojosa appeared in 13 games during his senior season,including 10 in a starting role, going 5-2 with a 4.86 ERA and onesave, while striking out 31 batters in 50.0 innings pitched andholding opponents to a .321 batting average. He heldright-handed batters to a .282 average (44-for-156) during theseason, and opponents hit just .280 (28-for-100) against him withthe bases empty. Hinojosa earned a win during UniversityAthletic Association (UAA) play against Washington University (Mo.)on March 11th, allowing just two runs and striking outsix batters over 6.2 innings, his longest start of the year. The righty also pitched the Eagles into the National Championshipgame, after allowing just one earned run over six innings againstthe University of St. Thomas on May 26th. Hinojosaended his Emory career with a 13-9 record and a 4.00 ERA, while his34 career starts tie him for the eighth-most in the program’shistory.
Junior (2013):
Hinojosa missed the entire 2013 season due to injury.
Sophomore (2012):
Hinojosa started a team-high 13 games in 2012, finishing theyear with a 5-4 record and an earned run average of 4.11. Heheld opponents to a .294 batting average during his 85.1 innings ofwork, surrendering earned runs and striking out a career-high 45batters. Hinojosa was able to restrict right-handed battersto a .283 (69-for-244) batting average. The righty excelledduring the University Athletic Association (UAA) Tournament, going2-0 over two starts with a 1.26 ERA over 14.1 innings. Included in his conference performance was a UAAChampionship-clinching victory over Washington University (Mo.) onMarch 16th, during which he delivered 7.1 shutout innings andstruck out seven batters. Hinojosa pitched at least sixinnings in 10 of his 13 starts, and at least eight innings on threeoccasions. From February 18th through March 16th, he allowedtwo earned runs or less in each of his five starts.
Freshman (2011):
Hinojosa was one of the top starters for the Eagles during the2011 season, going 3-3 with a 3.30 earned run average in 12appearances and 11 starts during his freshman year. Hepitched a team-high 73.2 innings during the year, striking out 33batters, walking 22, and holding opponents to a .284 battingaverage against. Hinojosa threw the only complete game of theseason for the Eagles, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hitsand striking out four against Hendrix College on April 2nd. It was the first nine-inning complete game pitched by an Eagle inover four years. He also threw seven shutout innings duringhis first collegiate start, holding Denison University scoreless onsix hits and no walks, en route to a 5-0 Emory win. Hinojosaprovided a quality start (six innings or more pitched, threeruns or less allowed) in six of his 11 starts during theyear. Hinojosa was named the UAA Athlete of the Week onFebruary 21st.
