John Dunham   MS, ATC, CES,  Director of Sports Medicine

John Dunham was named Head Athletics Trainer at Emory University in April of 2016 before he was tapped as the Director of Sports Medicine in September 2022.  Previously, he had served as nterim head athletics trainer since June of 2015. John is in his second stint at Emory, which began of October of 2007.  Dunham is a guest lecturer in the Emory University Physical Therapy Program at Georgia State University in the Graduate Sport Medicine Program. In addition, Dunham works part time for the Georgia Force in the Arena Football League.

After his first stay at Emory (2001-05), Dunham served as the Director of Sports Medicine at Multi Sport Orthotics. At Multi Sport Orthotics, Dunham was responsible for implementation and management of national sports medicine program as well as patient care and fabrication of orthotic devices.

Dunham served as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at Emory University from 2001 through 2005. In conjunction with serving as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at Emory, Dunham was an instructor in the Health, Physical Education, and Dance Department.

Prior to joining Emory University, Dunham served as the Head Athletic Trainer at Frayser High School in Memphis, Tennessee for 2 years. While in Memphis, Dunham was active on the Tennessee Athletic Trainer's Society Public Relations Committee and the Legislative Committee.

A Native of Memphis, Dunham earned his Masters of Science in Sports Administration from Eastern Kentucky University (Richmond) in 1999. While at EKU Dunham served as a Graduate Assistant in the Athletic and Recreation Department. Dunham received his Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance with a concentration in Wellness Promotion from Austin Peay State University (Clarksville, TN) in 1998. While earning his BS Dunham served as a student Athletic Trainer for 4 years.

In addition, Dunham work two summers as an intern in the National Football League with the Philadelphia Eagles and one summer in the Arena Football League with Memphis Pharaohs. He also volunteered with the Memphis Manics of the XFL during the league's only season.

Dunham is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and licensed in the state of Georgia.

John, his wife Lulie and their daughter Maggie and son Walker currently reside in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Dunham is an avid golfer.


Karli Dill MA, ATC, CES

Assistant Director of Sports Medicine

Karli Dill was named Athletic Trainer at Emory in August of 2014. She was elevated to Assistant Director of Sports Medicine in the fall of 2023. 

Dill joined the staff after a two-year stint as an athletic trainer at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, where she provided coverage for an area high school.  

Karli earned an MA in exercise and sports science from The University of North Carolina in 2012.  As a graduate assistant, she worked with the women's basketball and women's lacrosse programs and worked with a variety of camps as well.

Originally from Hollansburg, Ohio, she attended Wright State University where she obtained a B.S. in athletic training in 2010. 

She is graston technique certified and certified by NASM as a Corrective Exercise Specialist.

Karli is a member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association and a licensed athletic trainer in the state of GA.


Mason Briles

Athletic Trainer

Mason Briles joins the Emory athletic training staff in January 2022 after serving as the Head Athletic Trainer previously at Tucker High School. Mason has previously worked within elite athletics including Team USA Marathon Olympic Trials, Iron Man Triathlons, the NBA Academy, Division I Men's Football and Women's Basketball at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and Division III athletics at Emory University.

Mason also has several years of experience within the secondary school setting working with state champion athletic programs at McCallie Boy's School and Decatur High School. In addition to his clinical work, Mason has published and presented research on a variety of topics such as biomechanical data collection, traumatic orthopedic injury, infectious disease transfer (epidemiology), and exercise-induced heat transfer. 

Mason is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he obtained his Master of Science in athletic training, and Auburn University's School of Kinesiology, where he completed concurrent bachelor's degrees in exercise science and physical activity and health: fitness, conditioning, and performance. 


Aley Fox

Athletic Trainer

Aley Fox joined the Emory Athletics Department as an Athletic Trainer in June of 2023.

Aley most recently served as an assistant athletic trainer at Salisbury University working with Men's Soccer, Women's Basketball, and Track and Field teams.

She obtained her Master of Science in Athletic Training from Salisbury University in Maryland in 2022. During her time as a graduate student, Fox gained clinical experience working with Salisbury's Baseball and Men's Lacrosse teams. She received a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from The University of Alabama in 2020.

Aley is originally from Lothian, Maryland.


Adrienne Henderson

Athletic Trainer

Adrienne Henderson joined the Emory Athletics Department as an Athletic Trainer in June of 2023.

Adrienne joined the staff after completing her Master of Science in Athletic Training at Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, Georgia. Through her 2 years at Georgia College (2021-2023), she was able to obtain an abundance of experience at numerous secondary schools in central Georgia, including time with emergency medical services and most recently completed her immersion at LaGrange College. In addition, Adrienne has held leadership positions for the Southeast Athletic Trainers' Association and is also a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association.

Adrienne earned her undergraduate degree at Georgia State University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. She is an Atlanta native and loves the state of Georgia.


Allison Rhodes

Athletic Trainer

Allison Rhodes joined the Emory Athletics Department as an Athletic Trainer in June of 2023.

Rhodes joined the staff after completing a two-year Master of Science in Athletic Training degree at the University of South Carolina (May 2021-May 2023). During her two years at the University of South Carolina, Rhodes worked with South Carolina Track &Field, Women's Equestrian, Men's Soccer, Benedict College Baseball and at Health-wood Hall High School. During the last semester of her master's degree, she completed a 5 month clinical immersion with the Georgia Tech Baseball team.

Allison completed her undergraduate studies at Berry College in Rome, Georgia, earning a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a minor in Business Administration (August 2017- May 2021). During her time at Berry, she completed three and a half years as an athletic training student aid for the Women's Volleyball team, Women's Lacrosse team, and the Men's and Women's Swim and Dive teams. She served as the Student Program Director for the Sports Medicine department her senior year.

She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, Southeast Athletic Trainers' Association, and South Carolina Athletic Trainers' Association.

Allison grew up in Alpharetta, Georgia with sister Anna, brother Jack, and parents Dusty and Marylynn.


Chip Hewgley, MPT

Physical Therapist

Hewgley has been a staff physical therapist at Emory Sports Medicine since 2002.  A native of Oak Ridge, TN. Hewgley earned his Master's of Physical Therapy from The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (St. Augustine, FL) in 2000.  Hewgley received his Bachelor's of Science in Sports Performance from Berry College (Rome, GA) in 1996.  While at Berry, Hewgley was a member of the Varsity Baseball Team.

Before coming to Emory Sports Medicine, Hewgley spent two years with the Atlanta Braves as the organization's physical therapist. Hewgley is currently working towards a specialty certification in Sports Physical Therapy as well as a Manual Therapy certification.  Hewgley's special interests include working with throwing athletes with shoulder and elbow injuries. Hewgley is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association - Sports Section and is licensed in the State of Georgia.

Chip, his wife Veronica, their daughter Hannah, and their dogs Paddy and Tasha currently reside in Woodstock, GA.  Hewgley enjoys running, lifting weights, and fishing.
