The No. 2 ranked Emory University women's soccer team returned to the field for the 2026 season opener Friday night and prevailed with a 3-0 road win over Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky.

Three different goal scorers led the way for the Eagles in the three-goal victory with seniors Zia Tomlin and Madison Teng punching through tallies and sophomore Siena Elder adding a later insurance header to complete the shutout.

Emory controlled possession throughout the evening with a 20-5 margin in total shots and a 14-2 lead. Teng and sophomore Sophia Asiain both contributed three shots on frame with Teng posting a team-high five shots.

Tomlin broke a scoreless contest with her first goal of the season in the 34th minute, taking advantage of a strike to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead into the break.

In the second half, Teng padded the Emory advantage with another marker in the 55th minute prior to Elder completing the scoring with a header off a corner kick in the 71st minute.

The Eagles will look for the Kentucky weekend sweep Sunday afternoon against Centre at 12:00 PM.
