The Emory women's golf team earned their second victory of the season Tuesday afternoon, winning the Tartan Invitational by eight strokes with a team total 846 (-18) to break the team three-round tournament record, previously set at 866 at the 2022 Jekyll Island Invitational.
It was an all-UAA top five as the NYU Violets took second at -10, host Carnegie Mellon finished third with their B team taking fourth and with the WashU Bears rounding out the top five at +29.
Amanda Zheng was also crowned the individual champion as she broke the program individual three-round scoring record with a 205 (-11). She shot a 71 (-1) in her final round, delivering a bogey-free front nine as she made par on each hole apart from birdies on six and 16 and a lone bogey on 12.
Behind her in a tie for fifth was junior Zimo Li who carded a 70 (-2) in the third round. Li shot a pair of birdies and the same number of bogeys on the front nine before recording a bogey-free back nine with a lone birdie on 11 to finish with a 211 (-5) to wrap up play in Pennsylvania.
Three strokes behind Li was Carys Code who shot four birdies and three bogeys to card a 71 (-1) in round three, landing in a tie for eighth with a 214 (-2) to conclude the tournament.
Freshman Julia Paek finished behind Code in a tie for 20th, making par on each hole apart from three bogeys to shoot a 75 (+3) and finish with a 220 (+4) through three rounds.
Finishing things off for the Eagles was Esther Jung who jumped 16 spots on the leaderboard to finish in a tie for 27th. Jung delivered her best round of the tournament, shooting a 71 (-1) that saw four birdies, a bogey and a double bogey for the senior to bring her three-round score to 224 (+8)
The Eagles will be back on the course October 12 when they head to Santa Cruz, CA for the Pasatiempo Invitational.
