The No. 2 ranked Emory University women's soccer team opened its weekend trip to Massachusetts with a 2-1 decision Saturday afternoon at Babson College. With the win, the Eagles improved to 2-0-1 on the season while the Beavers fell to 1-3.
Emory found a quick score just three minutes into the contest as an indirect free kick off the foot of Madison Teng found its way to the far corner for an own goal.
The score remained 1-0 until the early stages of the second half when senior Kaitlyn Nimmer pushed the Eagles ahead with her first goal of the season, going top shelf in the 53rd minute to double the Emory lead.
Babson cut the deficit to one in the 74th minute when another own goal found its way into the back of the net.
For the game, Emory doubled the Beavers in total shot attempts, 14-7, and in shots in goal, 6-3, while Babson led 6-3 in corner kick opportunities.
The Eagles will look to remain unbeaten on the road to start the season as the Massachusetts weekend swing concludes Sunday afternoon against Emerson College. Kick off is slated for 2:00 PM.
