Track and Field Picks Up 4 Wins at Emory Twilight Meet

The Emory University track and field team hosted the Emory Twilight Qualifier Wednesday afternoon, posting wins in four events on the day.

Due to inclement weather around 6:30 p.m., meet organizers canceled the remaining events of the day.

Aaliyah Jalloh earned the first win of the day with her 55.98 second performance in the women's 400m to win the event. The throwers also shined Caroline Henry earned top marks in the women's hammer throw with a 52.46m throw and Jeanette Hydukovich won the women's shot put with her 13.33m effort. Fresh off his UAA Championship in the event, Henry Brandstadter won the long jump with a 7.20m jump.

The women's track competition began with the 1500 where senior Madison Tiaffay placed in the top ten with a time of 4:41.07.

On the field side of the women's competition, the Eagles started strong in discus as Jackie Chapman, Jeanette Hydukovich and Henry made up the top three with throws between 41.35m and 43.32m.

Abigail Roberts came in second behind Henry in the hammer throw, going for 50.15m to claim a podium spot.

In the pole vault, sophomore Erin Makhanian came in third with a 3.54m effort.

The long jump saw two Eagles compete as freshman Mimi Rhee came in ninth with a 4.86m jump and sophomore Anna Jennings finished in 11th at 4.22m.

Amaya Grant and Rhee both placed in the top five in the triple jump, jumping for 11.29m and 10.31m respectively.

Moving over to the men's track competition, freshman Noah Chang got the day started with a 16.19 second finish in the 110m hurdles to take fifth.

Up next was the 100 meters where Henry Brandstadter came in sixth with a 10.58 second race.

In the 1500m, sophomore Ryan Van de Berghe finished in 17th place with a time of 4:08.50.

The 400m saw a pair of Eagles in the top ten as Blake Jackson and Eli Rosen each finished in under 53 seconds to take seventh and ninth place respectively.

Sophomore Ryan McGonigle led the team in the 800m, finishing in fifth with a time of 1:50.99. Five seconds later, Andrew Burchett crossed the finish line to come in 13th place.

In the 400m hurdles, Sebastian Kou and Ethan Lu took fourth and fifth place with times just over the 53 second mark.

Tyler Edwards got the men's field events started with the hammer throw, throwing for 51.67m to finish in eighth place.

To end the day, men's pole vault saw two Eagles compete as Steven Ditelberg took fourth at 4.50m while Robert Bright came in fifth at 4.20m.

The team will be splitting up this weekend as groups of Eagles will head to the F.I.R.E Meet at Williams, St. Francis Fighting Chance, Lee Last Chance and the Life U Last Chance meet.
