Two members of the Emory University men's golf team were recognized with NCAA Division III PING All-Region acclaim as announced in coordination with the Golf Coaches Association of America Sunday night ahead of the NCAA Championships in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
The Eagles were represented on the All-Region IV team from graduate student Pearse Lucas and junior Kevin Mu, two members of Emory's upcoming national team this week in Florida. This marks the first career honor for Lucas a member of the Eagles and the second consecutive All-Region nod for Mu.
In his first season with the Eagles, Lucas appeared in 10 tournaments with the team as he averaged a 72.6 score per round. He was the team's top performer at the Tartan Invitational and finished second overall at the Discover Dekalb Invitational last month. He also played a part in the team's UAA championship effort in September as he was one of three Eagles named to the All-Tournament and was tabbed as the tournament MVP.
For Mu, he was the team's top performer during six different tournaments including medalist honors at the Wabash College Invitational as well as Emory's Discover Dekalb Invitational. For the season, Mu averaged 71.3 per round to lead the team and joined Lucas on the All-UAA Tournament team this past September.
The Eagles' NCAA tournament run begins on Tuesday with the first round of the championships.
