The Emory track and field team had an incredible day at home, putting up over 60 top ten finishes on the day.
The meet was highlighted by four record-breaking performances from the throwers as sophomore
Ari Klasky broke the men's shot put and discus records for the third week in a row, throwing for 17.39m and 49.76m in each event to place second and third. Senior
Steven Ditelberg broke the men's pole vault record at 4.73m to win the event, breaking the previous record set in 2022 by .2m. On the women's side, freshman
Abigail Roberts broke the women's hammer record at 53.61m to take first in the event, breaking the previous record of 52.50m that was set 24 years ago by Danielle LeSure.
The Eagles also found wins in the men's 110m hurdles and women's discus as sophomore
Ben Olvey ran for 14.80 seconds and freshman
Jackie Chapman threw for 45.40m to secure the wins.
Starting with the men's field events, sophomore
Riley Schwimmer held it down for the Eagles in the hammer throw, finishing 15
th with a 38.14m throw.
In the men's long jump,
Henry Brandstadter led the Eagles as the senior finished third with a 6.69m jump. Freshman
Marco Souchet placed sixth, going for 6.56m and classmate
Branson Adams came in tenth with a 6.43m jump to round out the top ten.
In the shot put, junior
Rohan Vasandani came in eighth with his 13.39m effort.
All three pole vaulters placed in the top ten for the Eagles as freshman
Robert Bright followed Ditelberg with a 4.05m mark to take fifth.
Evan Tuckley came in sixth for the Eagles with his 3.90m effort to round it out for the Eagles.
In the javelin, sophomore
Alexander Osterman was the lone Eagle, coming in third with a 50.08m throw.
In discus, Vasandani came in 15
th behind Klasky with a 49.76m throw.
The track side of the men's competition began with the 4x100 relay as
Blake Jackson,
Lucas Mersky,
Noah Chang and Brandstadter came in second with a 41.78 second race.
Four Eagles found the top ten in the 1500 as rookie
Zach Glover led the team with a time of 3:59.74 to take second. Fellow freshman
Logan Clark came in fourth at 4:00.72 while classmate
Michael Versaci came in sixth with a time of 4:01.46. Senior
Nikhil Makker came in ninth to round out the top ten for the Eagles, running a 4:02.64.
In the 110m hurdles, sophomore
Ethan Lu came in third behind Olvey with a time of 14.99. Junior
Sebastian Kou and freshman
Noah Chang came in sixth and seventh with times just over the 15 second mark while senior
Jason Huang came in 14
th with a time of 20.02.
The 400 was up next and Jackson led the team, coming in fourth with a time of 48.63 seconds. Sophomore
Ryan McGonigle came in fifth with his 48.87 second effort while Mersky finished it off for the Eagles with a 49.30 second finish to take seventh.
In the 100, junior
Kofi Igyan took ninth with an 11.06 second performance while sophomore
Joshua Han came in tenth at 11.08. Freshmen
Rohan Dharmarajan and Souchet made their way into the top 15 as well, placing 14
th and 15
th respectively.
Junior
Andrew Burchett came in behind Van de Berghe in the 800, taking fifth at 1:53.90 while Amos Pres and
Dalton Lowery came in within .005 seconds of each other at the 1:55.94 mark to take ninth and tenth respectively.
In the 200, Chang came in seventh at 22.17 seconds while Mersky finished eighth with a time of 22.18 seconds.
The Eagles had two athletes in the 3000 as junior
Jacob Zalis finished fifth with a time of 9:34.13 and sophomore
Will Sonneborn came in eighth with a time of 9:57.41.
Rounding out the men's competition with the 4x400 relay, the Emory team of
Eli Rosen,
Brendan Conniff, Han and
Ryan Wachter came in 4
th with a time of 3:22.17 while other team of
Michael Miller,
Cooper Harwood, Versaci and Burchett came in 9
th at 3:24.89.
On the women's side, the field events began with the high jump as freshmen
Jada Clarke and
Megan Taylor tied for third with a 1.55m jump.
In the hammer throw,
Caroline Henry came in second behind Roberts with a 51.78m throw while
Sarah Watson came in 14
th with a 37.91m effort.
The long jump was up next and freshman
Mimi Rhee finished in sixth with a 5.09m jump as her classmate
Campbell Fennell came in 12
th with a 4.47m mark.
In the pole vault, both Eagles placed in the top three as
Erin Makhanian placed second with a 3.35m mark and
Emerson Sobich placed third with a 3.05m mark.
Jeanette Hydukovich led the Eagles in the shot put, coming in second with a 12.77m throw.
Jackie Chapman finished behind her, finishing in sixth with an 11.84m effort and
Janelle Bobb came in 12
th with a 10.76m throw.
In the discus, Hydukovich came in second behind Chapman, throwing for 43.62m to take second and Henry took fourth with a 39.90m effort.
All four Eagles placed in the top ten in the triple jump to end the field events, with
Elsa Bildtsen placing second behind Grant at 11.04m.
Dijaye Carpenter finished in fourth with a 10.97m jump and
Maeve Hurly came in seventh with a 10.56m jump.
The women's track events began with the 4x100 relay as
Aaliyah Jalloh, Grant,
Laura Jablonover,
Kelsey Coley took second with a  47.49 second finish.
In the 1500, six Eagles placed in the top ten as junior
Cameron Gupta led the team with a second place finish at 4:40.37. Sophomore
Davis Johnson was close behind, coming in at 4:42.3 as
Elizabeth Csikai took fifth with a time of 4:45.35.
Elise Picard came in a second later to take sixth while senior
Luna McCauley came in seventh at 4:48.71.
Ayla Cooke rounded out the top ten for the Eagles with her time of 4:55.39 to finish in eighth.
In the 100m hurdles, Coley took second at 14.65 seconds while Fennell came in 13
th at 18.27 seconds.
The 400 was up next and
Madison Tiaffay, Zoe Norman and
Payton Sullivan all placed in the top 15, taking 12
th, 14
th and 15
th respectively.
In the 100,
Jada Kenner came in fourth at 12.28 seconds while Jablonover placed seventh with a time of 12.75 seconds.
The women's 400 hurdles saw
Sophia Deeney place eighth at 1:08.17 and
Izzie Thompson take tenth at 1:09.85.
Jablonover was the lone Eagle in the 200, coming in ninth at 25.31 seconds.
In the 3000m race,
Ella Werkman led the squad with a 10:49.13 to take second place while
Ines Lemee came in ninth at 11:55.96.
The event concluded with the 4x400 relay as the team of Coley, Kenner,
Sarah Nixon and Deeney placed third at 3:53.11 while the team of Picard, Gupta, Johnson and Tiaffay finished in seventh at 4:10.91.Â
The Eagles will split up next weekend as the team heads to the Berry Field Day in Mount Berry, GA and the Lee Fastbreak Invitational in Cleveland, TN.
