The #1 ranked Emory women's golf team dominated the final day of the Deb Jackson Invitational, winning by 12 strokes with a team total 577 (+9) to secure the team title for the third year in a row.
Fellow UAA programs Carnegie Mellon and WashU rounded out the podium, taking second and third at 589 (+21) and 606 (+38) respectively.
Freshman
Xinyi Zheng captured the individual title with a 141 (-1) two-round total to win her third individual title this season. Junior
Esther Jung also placed in the top three, taking second with a 36-hole score of 145 (+3).
Behind them was sophomore
Zimo Li who came in tied for fourth with a 146 (+4) for the tournament. She had a consistent round, shooting only two birdies and two bogeys on the day.
Two strokes back in sixth place was junior
Carys Code who shot five bogeys and a double bogey to deliver a two-day total of 148 (+6).
Rounding out the starting five was
Covi Yan who came in 11
th with a 150 (+8) over 36 holes. The sophomore shot a lone birdie, five bogeys and a double bogey to score a 77 in her final round.
The second group of Eagles finished in ninth place, shooting 630 (+62) for the weekend.
Derica Chiu led the group, coming in 23
rd place with a 156 (+14) on the tournament. The junior improved by six shots from yesterday's round to shoot a 75 (+4) with two birdies and six bogeys on the day.
Behind her was the senior duo of
Cindy Wang and
Katie Park who tied for 25
th place with a 157 (+15) tournament total.
Rounding out the group was sophomore
Angelina Zhang who shot a 160 (+18) total, recording a lone birdie and nine bogeys to land in 30
th place.
The Eagles will look to repeat as national champions when they head to Palm Desert, CA for the NCAA Championships next month.
