The Eagles wrapped up competition at the Berry Field Day Saturday afternoon, earning 36 top ten placements on the day.
The meet saw five Eagles take home wins, with junior
Mable Mutumwa earning the first win of the day in women's javelin as she threw for 40.46m. Sophomore
Erin Makhanian won women's pole vault with her 3.52m mark while her classmate
Jeanette Hydukovich threw for 43.62m to win women's discus. On the track side of the competition, freshman
Sarah Nixon won the women's 800m with a time of 2:16.20 while her fellow rookie
Logan Clark won the men's 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:53.39.
Behind Mutumwa in the women's javelin, freshmen
Grace Sharman and
Lucy Hewitt came in 5
th and 6
th place with marks of 35.10m and 33.03m respectively.
In the shot put, Hydukovich led the team with a third-place finish at 13.09m.
Caroline Henry also finished in the top ten, taking seventh with an 11.90m mark while
Janelle Bobb came in 15
th with a 10.16m effort.
Freshman
Megan Taylor led the Eagles in the long jump, claiming second with a 5.58m mark. A trio of Eagles finished 6-8 as
Elsa Bildtsen took sixth with a 5.03m mark,
Jada Clarke came in seventh with a 4.95m jump while
Maeve Hurly finished in eighth with a 4.84m performance.
In the pole vault, sophomore
Emerson Sobich came in fifth behind her classmate Makhanian with a 3.22m mark.
Discus was up next as Henry came in second behind Hydukovich with a 41.91m mark. Sophomore
Abigail Roberts also placed in the top ten, finishing in sixth with a 37.96m throw.
Jackie Chapman rounded out the top 15 for the Eagles, coming in 14
th with a 32.84m effort.
The women's field events ended with the high jump where Clarke was the lone Eagle, taking third place with a mark of 1.57m.
On the track side of the women's competition,
Campbell Fennell got things started for Emory in the 100m hurdles, finishing fourth with a time of 15.80 seconds.
In the 800m,
Zoe Norman came in second behind Nixon at 2:18.16. Junior
Elise Picard also placed in the top ten with her 2:22.58 performance while sophomore
Ryleigh O'Donnell took 24
th with a time of 2:31.31.
Finishing out the women's track events was the 200m where Taylor came in sixth with a 25.75 second effort while
Sophia Deeney placed 19
th with a time of 28.32 seconds.
Moving over to the men's field events, the competition began with the long jump where freshman
Marco Souchet took seventh with a 6.55m jump. Sophomore
Sam Gouvalaris also placed in the top 15, jumping for 6.08m to take 13
th place.
In the javelin,
Alex Osterman and
Chris Sumney took fourth and fifth place with marks of 51.88m and 51.72m respectively.
All four Eagles in the pole vault placed in the top ten, with senior
Steven Ditelberg leading the team as he placed second with a 4.47m mark. Freshman
Robert Bright finished in fourth with a 4.17m mark while junior
Evan Tuckley and sophomore
Jack Adler took seventh and eighth with marks of 4.02m and 3.42m.
Sophomore
Ari Klasky was the lone Eagle in discus, finishing in second place with a 47.61m throw.
The men's field events ended with the high jump where freshman
Jacob Kim came in fourth with a 1.82m jump while Gouvalaris took ninth with a 1.72m performance.
The 400m started off the men's track events as
Blake Jackson led the Eagles with a time of 48.76 seconds to come in third.
Joshua Han also placed in the top ten, taking sixth at 49.48 seconds. The freshmen duo of
Ryan Wachter and
Eli Rosen rounded out the top 15 for the Eagles, finishing in 12
th and 13
th respectively with times under the 51 second mark.
In the 100m dash, freshman
Rohan Dharmarajan placed in the top 20 as he ran for 11.49 seconds to claim 16
th place. Seniors
Gunn Bush and
Jason Huang also finished in the top 25, running for 11.74 and 11.80 seconds as they took 21
st and 22
nd overall.
In the 800m, three Eagles placed in the top ten as
Brendan Conniff led with a second-place finish at 1:54.90. Freshman
Amos Pres and sophomore
Dalton Lowery also placed in the top ten, placing fifth and sixth with times just over the 1:56 mark. Finishing off the top 15 for the Eagles was
Michael Versaci and
Carsen Valenta as they took 11
th and 15
th place with times of 1:57.98 and 1:59.70.
Both Emory athletes in the 200m placed in the top 20 as Dharmarajan came in 13
th at 22.98 seconds and sophomore
Ryan Coleman finished in 19
th at 23.28 seconds.
The event concluded with the 4x400 relay where Rosen,
Michael Miller, Lowery and Pres came in fifth place with a time of 3:28.96.
The Eagles will be back on the track next weekend, splitting their weekend between Atlanta and Mount Laurel, TN as they head to the Georgia Tech Invitational and the Mount Laurel Open.Â
