The #1 ranked Emory women's golf team wrapped up play at the Georgia State Invitational Tuesday afternoon, finishing in second place out of 14 Division I and Division III programs.
Tournament hosts Georgia State took the team title with a team score of 883 (+19) while Bowling Green shot a team total 890 (+26) to round out the podium.
Sophomore
Zimo Li held onto her fourth-place spot to end the tournament, shooting a 76 to bring her tournament total to 216 (E). The second year shot four bogeys, two birdies and a double bogey to put up a 76 (+4) in her final round.
Junior
Carys Code also held on to her 11
th place spot from day one, ending with a 220 (+4) total over three rounds. She shot a 74 (+2) in her final round with four birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey to end the tournament.
Xinyi Zheng shot up ten spots in her final round, shooting her lowest round of the tournament with a 73 (+1) to land in the top 15. The freshman shot four birdies and five bogeys on the day to shoot 222 (+6) over the three rounds.
Esther Jung came in next, finishing in 44
th place after shooting 230 (+14) on the tournament. The junior shot her best round Tuesday afternoon, recording three birdies and three bogeys to score a 72 (E) in round three and shoot up 16 spots on the leaderboard.
Three shots behind Jung was sophomore
Covi Yan, who climbed four spots on the leaderboard to end with a 233 (+17) at the end of the third round. Yan matched her first-round score, shooting a 77 (+5) with two birdies and seven bogeys across 18 holes.
Rounding it out for the Eagles on the leaderboard as an independent was senior
Derica Chiu, who tied her second-round score with an 84 (+12) on the day. She shot two birdies, nine bogeys and two double bogeys in the third round to end the tournament in 78
th place.
The team will take two weeks off before returning for their home tournament as they host the Deb Jackson Invitational April 18-19.
