The Eagles had a great second day at their second home meet of the outdoor season, posting 30 top ten placements on the day amongst a crowded field ranging from Division I to Division III programs.
The day was highlighted by
Caroline Henry's first place finish for the Eagles in the women's hammer throw, throwing for 52.33m to win the event.
Freshman
Megan Taylor got the day started on the women's side with the final three heptathlon events, finishing 5
th overall in the event after coming in third in the long jump, 12
th in the javelin and fifth in the 800m.
In the hammer throw,
Abigail Roberts came in second behind Henry with a 50.82m effort. Three more Eagles placed in the top 20 as sophomore
Janelle Bobb claimed 11
th,
Lia Cardwell took 13
th and
Jackie Chapman finished in 20
th place.
The women's high jump was up next and freshman
Gabrielle An held it down for the Eagles, coming in seventh with a 1.53m jump.
In the triple jump, junior
Dijaye Carpenter was the top Eagle with an 11.32m performance to take sixth. Classmate
Elsa Bildtsen was close behind with a 10.97m mark while the freshman duo of
Mimi Rhee and
Maeve Hurley took 17
th and 18
th.
On the track side for the women, sophomore
Izzie Thompson led the team in the 400m hurdles with a 1:08.98 finish while classmate
Ryleigh O'Donnell finished in 12
th with her 1:11.32 race.
In the 1500m, all three Eagles placed in the top ten as senior
Madison Tiaffay came in fourth with a time 4:34.33. Junior
Payton Fleming was close behind as she crossed the finish at 4:45.41 to take sixth while senior
Cameron Gupta finished in eighth with a 4:49.62 finish.
The meet saw two teams of Eagles compete in the 4x400 relay as "Emory A" with
Amaya Grant,
Hannah Riley,
Laura Jablonover and
Aaliyah Jalloh took third place with a 3:49.12 effort. Emory B with
Payton Sullivan,
Zoe Norman,
Sarah Nixon and O'Donnell finished in sixth with a time of 4:04.17.
The women's track portion of the meet ended with the 5000m where junior
Elizabeth Csikai took fourth with a time of 17:44.93.
Davis Johnson and
Ayla Cooke came in eighth and ninth, finishing over the 18:05 mark. Junior
Elise Picard rounded out the top 20 for the Eagles, taking 20
th with a time of 18:40.58.
Starting off the men's side of the meet with the hammer throw, junior
Tyler Edwards took seventh with a 50.78m throw while sophomore
Riley Schwimmer took 23
rd with a 38.02m effort.
In the high jump,
Jacob Kim was the lone Eagle as he came in 14
th with a 1.78m effort.
Both Eagles competing in the javelin placed in the top five, with junior
Christopher Sumney taking fourth with a 49.22m performance while sophomore
Alex Osterman came close behind with a 48.88m throw to take fifth.
The triple jump saw all the Eagles place in the top ten as sophomore
Jason Bright led the team with his 13.97m effort to take second.
Marco Souchet was .1m behind him to come in third and Kim jumped for 13.90m to finish fourth.
Branson Adams and
Ryan Coleman wrapped up the event for the Eagles, taking ninth and tenth respectively after 13.45m and 13.26m performances.
The 400m hurdles saw three Eagles place in the top ten as
Ethan Lu took third with a 53.91 race,
Sebastian Kou placed fifth with a 54.47 second finish and
Noah Chang claimed tenth with a 56.42.
In the 200m,
Lucas Mersky was the top Eagle as he took 16
th with a 22.13 second performance.
The 3000m steeplechase saw freshman
Zach Glover and
Logan Clark place in the top ten, with Glover taking fifth with a time of 9:45.07 and Clark claiming seventh with a 10:05.89.
In the men's 4x400 relay, "Emory A" with
Blake Jackson,
Andrew Burchett,
Lucas Mersky and
Cooper Harwood took fifth with a 3:17.33 finish while "Emory B" with
Eli Rosen,
Michael Miller,
Dylan Patel and
Ryan Coleman took 11
th with a 3:27.31.
The Eagles will finish out competition tomorrow with field events beginning at 10:00 a.m.
