The Emory track and field team wrapped up their first outdoor meet of the season Saturday afternoon, earning 29 top ten placements on day two amongst a crowded field of Division I and II programs at the Emory Spring Break Classic.
The day was highlighted by
Ari Klasky's career-defining day in the field, breaking the program shot put and discus records he set a year ago with marks of 15.75m and 47.64m in his respective events to take second place in both. Day two also saw
Elizabeth Csikai win the women's 3000m with a time of 10:22.68.
Beginning the day with the men's field events,
Robert Bright held it down for the Eagles in the pole vault, placing ninth with a 4.0m mark.
Joining Klasky in the discus and shot put, junior
Rohan Vasandani placed 27
th and 17
th in both events respectively with marks of 36.97m and 13.18m.
In the long jump,
Marco Souchet led the Eagles, jumping for 6.78m to take 12
th in the event.
Moving over to the track side of the men's competition,
Parker Carrus was the lone Eagle in the 3000m, taking 16
th with a time of 9:26.35.
In the 1500m, freshman
Jack Mulhauser made the podium with a 4:02.73 finish to take second. Classmate
Michael Versaci also placed in the top ten, taking tenth after clocking in at 4:05.26. Junior
Kirin Karver finished off the event with a 4:13.39 mark to finish in 25
th.
Up next was the 110mH where
Ethan Lu claimed a podium spot with his 14.97 second finish. Freshman
Noah Chang also earned a top ten placement, taking 8
th with his 15.30 second finish.
In the 400m,
Ryan McGonigle took seventh with a 48.41 second effort.
Andrew Burchett found himself in 16
th with a 49.89 second time while
Cooper Harwood came in 25
th with a 50.44 second mark.
The 800m was next and
Nikhil Makker ran a 2:00.57 to place in the top 25.
In the 100m,
Blake Jackson led the team with a 10.97 second time to take 17
th.
Kofi Igyan came in next, crossing the finish at 11.01 seconds to land inside the top 20.
Lucas Mersky also finished in the top 30 with a time of 11.09 seconds.

The men's competition ended with the 4x200 relay where the Emory squad took second place with a time of 1:28.05.
The women's field side of the competition began with the shot put where
Jeanette Hydukovich took ninth with an 11.77m throw. Freshman
Caroline Henry was right behind her, taking tenth with an 11.63m effort.
Jackie Chapman also finished in the top 20, placing 17
th with an 11.23m performance.
In the long jump,
Anna Jennings finished in fifth with a 5.47m jump. Newcomer
Megan Taylor was right behind her, going for 5.32m to take sixth in her outdoor debut for the Eagles. Classmate
Maeve Hurly also placed in the top 20 with a 5.20m jump.
Discus was up next and all four Eagles placed in the top ten.
Jackie Chapman led the team with a 43.28m throw to take third. Hydukovich followed, placing fifth with a 39.65m effort and Henry took seventh with a 39.23m throw.
Abigail Roberts rounded things out for the Eagles, finishing in eighth with a 39.01m performance.
Wrapping up the field events with the pole vault, sophomore
Erin Makhanian took fourth with a 3.45m mark and classmate
Emerson Sobich took eighth with a 3.15m effort.
Going into the women's track events, the Eagles dominated the 3000m as
Ayla Cooke came in right behind Csikai with her time of 10:38.65 to take third.
Morgan Cox came in next with a time of 10:52 to land in 4
th while
Arden Gray came in sixth with a time of 10:58.83.
In the 100m, freshman
Kwilai Karto took 21
st in her outdoor debut with a time of 12.56 seconds.
In the 400m, three Eagles placed in the top 20 as
Aaliyah Jalloh ran a 56.24 to earn second place.
Hannah Riley came in next, taking seventh with a time of 57.86 seconds.
Zoe Norman rounded out the top 20 finishers for the Eagles, taking 19
th with a time of 59.29 seconds.
The final individual event was the 800m and all three Eagles placed in the top ten. Senior
Madison Tiaffay took fifth with a 2:13.15 and
Sarah Nixon came in seventh with a 2:18.62.
Payton Fleming rounded out the event for Emory, taking tenth place with a time of 2:20.74.
The event concluded with the 4x200 relay where the team of Taylor, Karto,
Laura Jablonover and
Amaya Grant took second overall with a 1:40.37 finish.
The Eagles will be back at home next weekend as they host the Emory Thrills in the Hills event, with competition beginning Thursday.
