The Emory men's track and field team capped off a great weekend at the UAA Indoor Championship, taking second place after earning 142 points on the weekend. The Eagles secured ten top three placements to earn All-UAA honors, including one win as junior
John Urciuoli became the UAA Champion in the men's one mile with a 4:11.45 finish.
UChicago claimed the conference title with 164 points and Carnegie Mellon rounded out the top three with 115 points.
Beginning with the field events, sophomore
Jason Bright earned third place and All-UAA honors with his 14.19m effort in the triple jump. Sophomore
Sam Gouvalaris and freshman
Jacob Kim also placed in the top ten, taking sixth and seventh place respectively.
Sophomore
Ari Klasky held it down for the Eagles in the shot put, collecting his second top three placement of the weekend with a 16.05m throw to earn All-UAA honors.
In the pole vault, senior
Steven Ditelberg was the top Eagle with a 4.72m performance to place sixth. With his mark, he established a new school record as he eclipsed his previous best of 4.70m.
Moving into the track events, sophomores
Ben Olvey and
Ethan Lu both earned All-UAA honors after placing second and third in the 60m hurdles, clocking in at 8.37 and 8.40 seconds.
In the 400m, rookie
Lucas Mersky claimed third place and All-UAA honors with a 51.05-second showing. Classmate
Blake Jackson also claimed a top five spot, taking fourth place with a 51.06-second performance.
Next up was the 60m where senior
Henry Brandstadter claimed All-UAA honors, placing third at 6.91 seconds.
In the 800m, sophomore
Ryan McGonigle earned a top three spot and All-UAA honors, running a 1:54.37 to take second place. Senior
Brendan Conniff also placed in the top five with his 1:55.11 effort.
In the 3000m, sophomore
Ryan Van de Berghe took second place, earning All-UAA honors with his 8:21.96 finish.
The event concluded with the 4x400 relay where the Emory men took second place with a 3:53.15 effort.
The Eagles will be back in Massachusetts next Saturday as they head north for the Tufts Final Qualifier.
