Baseball Wins Third Straight; Downs Spalding, 9-2, in Montgomery Finale

The Emory University baseball team won its third consecutive game on Sunday as the Eagles defeated Spalding University, 9-2, in Montgomery, Alabama.

After seeing their rematch get rained out on Saturday, the two teams returned to the field Sunday morning on the campus of Huntingdon College and Emory was able to best the Golden Eagles once more behind a standout pitching effort from senior Adam Geller.

Geller collected his first win of the 2026 season as he worked six strong innings, allowed just one run on five hits and one walk while striking out seven.

He was aided by another strong offensive output from the Emory bats with the Eagles posting nine runs on 13 hits. Junior Aidan Conley and freshman Dalton Needle collected six of the team's base hits with a pair of three-hit performances. The duo along with freshman Mario Borges each drove in two runs to highlight the scoring.

Geller was staked to a 4-0 run lead early with Borges and senior Adrien Armstrong picking up run-scoring ground outs to start the scoring. Borges tallied another RBI as part of Emory's three-run fourth frame.

Spalding scratched out its first run off Geller in the fifth but Needle helped EU answer in the bottom of the inning as he plated Conley and Zach Hanson with a double. An inning later, Conley came through with a two-run double of his own as part of another three-run inning for the Eagles and Jonathan Lang had the final RBI in the win with a sac fly to plate Hanson to close out the sixth.

The Golden Eagles added an unearned run against the Emory bullpen in the eighth but EU's large lead was never threatened.

Emory will take on LaGrange College once again on Tuesday before starting a three-game set with Covenant next weekend. First pitch in LaGrange is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
